I would have thought the cost of dental treatment would have numbed everything. I am glad that you are feeling better. -jl

You can get temporary filling stuff from chemists. Recomended for holidays, weekends etc. My dentist used to laugh at me and my diy dentistry. Useful for cosmetic purposes lol. :-D :-D :-D

Who would believe it :-|

Gums are now healed enough for me to eat more solid foods. Am going out to lunch with my sisters.

Just brushed my remaining teeth & the cosmetic filling in one of my front teeth fell out :-0
I now lisp & need to keep my mouth firmly closed to hide the gap :-(

I had 2 wisdom teeth cut out of my gums before the grew through, the gums were then sewn up. This was when I was 16, at the local hospital.
The dentist was Dr Pullen - and he was yummy :-D
I had to starve for 12 hours beforehand. When I left he told me to only eat soft foods.

I was 16, ate like a horse and only weighed, at the most, 7 stone.
I was ravenous, and had a huge fry up.
:-D
Needless to say, a bit of bacon got caught under the stitches one side. It hadn'thurt until then :-(
Back I went, but while I was waiting for the inevitable telling off, the bacon came out :-\

I had two teeth out in OCt cos they were so loose from bone loss they couldn't be saved, Had em splinted back in but was told was a temporary solution. One got so loose again that was silly . was given all the options BUT couldn't afford implants so reluctantly opted for the two teeth either side that were on a limited bone time and had em out and a denture for 3 teeth fitted . one tooth was crooked so they did a denture with three teeth to fit. It was agony, gave me ulcers etc and was so uncomfortable . have had it adjusted twice.

It has settled but still not that comfortable. am sorry it was done but had no option.

I realise now why mums teeth spent most of their life in a cup on the kitchen windowsill and only got put in for family wedding pics, she could eat very well with em out and wasn't our mum with em in cos they changed her facial contour

Barbara - that's what happened to me aged 14. Yes, it was pretty awful afterwards!
Fortunately, never had one out since.

Have had teeth out in the past and have not found the need for painkillers as the dentist has suggested.

Did struggle a little when I had to have a tooth out through the roof of my mouth (tooth growing from there, roots of another twisted over it - don't ask - I know have a bridge). I was really dreading this (as dentist had mentioned dental hospital but then decided to do it himself) but on the afternoon following the morning's extraction could not feel a thing - The following day I felt like I had been kicked in the mouth by a horse ( I never have but imagine that this is how it must feel) - Next day, everything was fine and continued to be so.

Hopefully all will be fine with you and not cause too much discomfort.

Meat & veg... not sure about that... front teeth get in way of back gums meeting.

Have had scrambled egg & a yoghurt for lunch.

dont swill with above tepid water as anything warm can make the gums swell and bleed,,,,,,use a mouthwash as often as possible and a few rinses in salt water during the day,,,,,,,,,,

avoid any heavy lifting and bending down for a day or so.....

in a week youll be on meat and two veg,,,,,,, ;-)

All my sympathy to you, Carol. I've never had a tooth out since I was 14, and it's the one thing I dread.Worse than having major surgery!

Carol you poor thing not a nice thing to have especially after extractions.

I just had a couple of teeth out and oral surgery last year , surgeon told me to defintley use the salt water and also Oraldene mouth wash after my surgery. It really helped me I have to say.

To be honest painkillers maybe the best option and also perserverence although it is not nice at all.....
