How large is a pinch?

For many years I have often wondered and just lately I have seen 2 tv chefs using a heaped teaspoon of spice whilst saying 'a pinch'. |

'Pinch' could also be linked to the amount of doubtful expenses claimed by some MPs. In my town, we call it by a more familiar name of 'stealing'. |
