Fred sleeps on a hospital bed in the front room (as far as I know, he could be doing anything at night!). It has a control that hangs on the side which raises and lowers it and raises and lowers the ends. He operates this himself (of course).

The wire on the control is a bit loose because Fred has been driving his bed for six years now so I rung up to have it replaced.

Today the replacement will be coming. Not in the form of a new control pad. Oh dear no. Today Fred is having a whole new bed complete with monkey pole.

The bed did come here the other day but Fred's current monkey pole dosn't fit it so he had to wait until they had both available.

The monkey pole? The thing over the bed with a loop dangling off it for him to hoist himself up a bit.

They call it an egress pole but he actually reminds me more of a monkey!

Sharron, my OH sleeps in a different room now and has an adjustable bed - he has Parkinson's.

We have a baby alarm so that if he needs me during the night I can hear him. It works well except for when he drops something or coughs and then I go through the roof!! :-D

Hope Fred copes with his new bed - you could always practice pole dancing!!

Oh no I couldn't!

I haven't slept properly since he has been home.I listen all night and,as I have said before,if a gnat farts up the garden,I am ready to go down to him.

As soon as the carers come and get him up I have a couple of hours or if OH is at home.I am just getting up now, would you believe?
