I was interested to see QE Hospital, King's Lynn featured in the programme. When I was in there about 12 years ago, Lloyd Grossman had been advising on their food, and I thought it was pretty good. My Mam and Dad have both been inpatients over the years, and there always has been plenty of choice on the menu.
Well done to them for trying even more.

Mayfield I think that this is what the kitchen staff had been doing previously but the wards did not have numbers, so they just estimated, this was done over many wards and over the year resulted in thousands of pounds lost. James could cook my breakfast any time !

I’ve been watching that too very interesting, but they do make a drama out of something’s. All the fuss because a busy ward was not phoning down the numbers, threatening to not send food up to sick people.
Just get a member of kitchen staff the ring the ward at the time you want the information job done!

If we are talking favourite TV cook crushes, well it's got to be Nigella, imagine ............... and the she cooks you a cracking breakfast!

Hasn't this also been done before!!! About 5-8 years ago and the meals in most hospitals are still inedible. Thats why all the cafes, M &S & McDs do so well in the franchises in hospitals.

l do sometimes watch him on Saturdays, but we're usually getting ready to go shopping...then lunch:)))

Lol Jude ;-) I thought it was an excellent programme, I saw the original one he did last year in his home town in Yorkshire,. it was so successful, he said he would like to run it on through the UK. He actually paid to replace an expensive piece of kitchen equipment. He seems a decent and very caring chap.

He is my favourite TV chef, I love his honesty and sense of humour, ( he love his Mom too) I never miss him on Saturday Kitchen even my OH has come to terms he has a rival.

Sharron...l know what you mean., but where Jean(monmouth) is we can make our own too, but food is'nt good,, l just wish also that they would consider patients needs!!!!

If they could only make a decent cup of tea in nursing homes it would be big step forward.

Have never visited one where the tea was not maid's water!

........him this past week??
He's been all over the country (well he and other chefs have), getting Hospital Kitchens upto scratch. Abergavenny was one, Birmingham, London Free, quite a few others. Birmingham was thowing away 40 - 50% of their food, mainly because the staff were preparing/cooking it by memory and the day before...YUCK!!!!
Brilliant, l wish the same could be done with Nursing Homes !!
