I have to admit, my cats are gorgeous, they're friendly and even seem to like the grandchildren - but they seem to hold me up more than my children did!! :-|
I haven't managed to do anythng to my dolls house for months.
As soon as I go into the room to do anythng, there's a bl**dy cat sat in there - that's the dolls house - not the room :-S

Hopefully we'll get a bit of summer this year, and they'll stay outside for more than 5 minutes :-D

Oh Maggie, this is so much like my house, with four spoilt cats in residence, plus however many visiting.

Yesterday I was trying to quilt a double size quilt for my neighbour,on my small sewing machine. Trouble was that one of mine decided that it was a wonderful place to kip,I gave it up in the end, perhaps I can finish it today.

I wouldn't be without them though,I love them to bits. :-D :-D :-D

DEt, I have to stop M geting into kitchen cupboards - I do have some standards you know ;-)

Lovely Joy - wet cats. Mine enjoy the rain. They run out into it, find a muddy patch then run in again - time and again :-|

JP - 6 cats - all wanting to sleep with her :-S
At least I only have one on my bed.

Sharron, mine try that. Whenever I sit down to eat - the tubby M is there, but I take up a defensive position.

Oh it's raining. How do I know? G has just belted in and jumped on my lap. Judging from the temperature of his wet paws, it's cold too :-(

Well, that's cats for you! They are infuriating, manipulative, bossy, inconsiderate, haughty, disdainful, selfish creatures,
But maybe that's why we love them! , :-D

Had friends in for a meal on Sarurday night. Five of us sitting at the table when the cat jumps up and strolls monchalantly across, inspecting plates as goes.

Maggie, sorry but I found your posting so hilarious :-D :-D :-D..must ask my granddaughter how she copes with six cats, one dog and five horses, not that the horses share her bed or the house but the others pets always fight over who sleeps above her head.....by the way her bed is king sized, thank goodness! :-D :-D

We too have three cats, one a great big 10kg fluffy BritishBlue, a greedy rug, very sociable, a small black & white kitten we rescued from a crack den and another black and white older female who comes and goes. She has other options.

All of them and especially the fluffy one love "helping" to change the duvet and sheets which happens every other day, they never tire of the fun. If I am in a hurry then I shut the door and shut my ears to the dull thuds of furry bodies trying to bust it down and the crashing of broken glass.

Give up my cats ? Never.

In that case - stick them in their travelling carriers, or a kitchen cupboard! :-D

DET - couldn't close the door, needed 'elbow room' to turn the mattress. BUT if I HAD closedthe door, I would be repainting the door, and replacing the carpet on the landing......

Been there before (hence lots of 'spare' stair carpet last time I bought some) :-S

Barb, affectionate though M is, can you imagine putting a cat that weighs a stone, with non-retractable claws somewhere he REALLY doesn't want to go? :-S

Perhaps next time, empty 3 of those boxes from under your bed, put plenty of air holes in them........

You know where I'm going with this don't you.

All sounds hillarious but very time consuming I bet :-D :-D :-D

Remove G from bedroom.
Close bedroom door with yourself on the inside
Repeat as necessary.

As a friend used to say when their dog was awfward, it can be cured with a tenth of an ounce of lead: gently inserted into an ear by a gun.

eRRolSheep

eRRolSheep Report 24 Feb 2013 15:33

Gather them together, kneel down and put on a lovely smile, make gentle cooing noises and stroke as required.
Then quietly say....

....it isn't only horse in burgers you know

the way I feel at the moment, doesn't matter if it's 'good'

I've got 3 cats, (B, G & M) and it really came home to me today, how difficult they make my life :-| :-|
The cats are siblings, but each has it’s ‘place’.
M is slightly ‘disabled’ – he has a stunted bent tail, non-retractable claws, and, because of his tail, occasionally a smelly bot. He’s also overweight, and unsurprisingly is a kitchen cat – anything vaguely edible – he’s there.
G is a ‘bed’ cat – spends most of his life on my bed.
B is a midget, and is anywhere the other two aren’t. She's also a very vocal ‘needy’ cat

I decided to totally strip the bed and have a major de-fluffing session in my bedroom. With no carpet & the cats, plus loads of boxes under my bed, the fluff migrates to edges.

Fed the cats to get them in one place – especially G.

Ran upstairs, stripped the bed of all but the mattress cover. Carry washing downstairs to put I machine.
Put washing down, remove B from washing machine, put washing in machine.
Get vacuum cleaner from cupboard, put cleaner down to remove B from cupboard. Remove B from cleaner, take it upstairs, stopping on every stair to avoid stepping on B.
Find G on Bed. Decide to have breakfast. Go back downstairs, slowly, avoiding B, who is one step ahead of me, demanding attention.
M appears on stool in kitchen and spends his time attempting to grab me, to see if he’ll get anything (he never does), but his claws catch and I have to constantly unhook them from my clothes, and quite often, my flesh. Move stool. M decides on the ‘trip over’ strategy and spends the next 10 minutes walking determinedly between my feet, occasionally putting all his huge weigh on one of my legs, which if I’m in mid-step is rather unbalancing. Also, if I want to go any other way than the way he’s going, I have to step over him.
Eventually get breakfast & coffee. Sit at PC to see what’s going on. B sits on the chair behind me and starts grabbing my jumper, howling incessantly. I unhook her, stroke her, she stops ‘talking’ and I turn back to PC.
B then jumps onto keyboard. I take her off. Then have to try to get my screen the right way up. I google ‘sideways screen’ and spend 5 uncomfortable minutes trying to read the instructions. Correct screen. Finish cold breakfast, and head back upstairs.
Remove G from bed, take mattress cover off, again removing G from bed whilst doing this. Plug in vacuum cleaner, remove G from bed, vacuum mattress. G is back on bed. Pull mattress to one side, being careful not to overbalance it, as B is now where it would fall. Vacuum under bed. Pull mattress the other way, find B is yet again where it would fall. Vacuum other side. Remove both cats from bed.
Heave mattress up to turn it over, stop half way as B is on the half upended mattress. Carefully lower mattress, so it doesn’t land on G. Remove B. Carry on where I left off. Remove both cats. Vacuum other side.
Go back downstairs to get washing out of machine. Fold sheet to put it on radiator, sheet feels heavy, pull it in case it’s trapped in the basket, still heavy. Look on other side. Unhook B and remove her from half way up the sheet. Put sheet on radiator. Stop to pick up clean washing B has shoved off a chair.
Back upstairs. Remove G from bed, and put clean mattress cover on. Get sheet. Remove G. Manage to put both sheets on bed.
Lay king size duvet on bed. Get duvet cover, hands in corners – G is on duvet. Remove hands, remove G. Get hands back in duvet cover, G is back on duvet. By now I’ve had enough. Put duvet cover on duvet and cat. Cat gets the hint and appears. Remove cat, finish making bed, G on bed.
Rummage under bed, pull out boxes and vacuum around them. Then find I can’t push them back under as B has decided under the bed – smack bang in the middle is a good place to settle. Pull boxes out the other side, vacuum – then go very close to B with vacuum hose – she moves. Quickly shove boxes back.
Pull chest of drawers out from wall – vacuum, remove B , push chest back. And so it goes on.
What should have taken me half an hour, took over an hour.

B has now decided the best place to sleep is on my box of chocolates.
