When my Dad died I knew that there had been a letter amongst his possessions from my Mum's mum to him when they both went to Malta after they were married, for 3 years (RN service). My sister denied seeing it, as she did also a photo album and a scrap book.

This weekend I went to my sisters to collect some stuff she wanted me to have as she is hoping to move to Turkey, she has had a good clear out.

Guess what, amongst this 'stuff' besides a load of photos on my children (goodness knows why she had those) were the letter, the photo album and the scrap book containing old family photos.

The photo album is a record of my Dad's three year trip to South America 1931 to 1933 on H.M.S. Durban, I also had the diary he wrote of the trip and a book on the trip written by the ship's captain. So pleased to find it.

I have also acquired about 10 ration books and a couple of identity cards. :-) :-)

The ration books may come in handy soon !
And if you need to go on the run the identity cards may be useful too.

Just wish she'd have looked more carefully 12 years ago!

Ann, if your sister is anything like me then looking never works. I can look for something for ages and never find it, give up and I'll come across it while looking for something else.

At least you have them now and know they're safe.

It's wonderful getting your hands on 'treasure' isn't it.
Good for you, Ann, hope you enjoy looking through it all.

How lovely to receive these at last.

It's maddening when someone almost denies items exist, when you can remember seeing them.

I hope you enjoy looking through them.
