Susan10146857 Report 18 Dec 2012 10:07

by large money off stickers. Usually I am quite wary when shopping, but the other day I saw what I thought was a bargain at £20. it turned out to be £20 off £60 . I bought 4 before I realised. I didn't have my glasses on and didn't see the tiny off at the bottom of the ticket. The true price was hidden by other boxes which is why I was caught out this time.

This deceitful way of marking goods is all over the supermarkets and one has to peer closely to see the true price.

That's very true Susan ,I have seen a lot like that this week, it's a very deceitful way of labelling.

another thing is the "larger" item should be cheaper, but in fact often two smaller ones are in fact cheaper.......similarly packs of say four baked beans........four single ones are cheaper.....

The 'good market' clothes shops do this as well, massive % off posters, tiny text excluding the items you've queued up with only to have a disagreement with the young assistant who probably has xray vision.
I'm sure some customers get caught out if paying by card. :-0 :-|
Good job I'm Mrs Tight Wad. :-D

Deceitful pricing :-P pah!!!

Hang on a sec, I'm just climbing up on me soap box.........

I made my feelings known the other day when a chap stopped me after the tills at Tesco, asking if I would take a quick customer survey.....by the time I'd finished answering and commenting I bet he was sorry that he'd picked on me!!

I'd just spent twice the time it could have taken me to do my shopping, as I check their 'best buys' with a calculator now. And in general they don't have a clear pricing policy, special offers or not.
Given the chance to answer if I would use another supermarket if there was one near by, I got my chance to tell him i most certainly would. Problem is it's a long drive to any other supermarket - either 12 mile round trip to Waitrose, or a 36 mile round trip to Asda and others. :-P :-S

OK, I've said my bit :-0

Quite possibly Ann...I'm sure Tesco aren't alone in the way they price.
Being used to the prices in Egypt I find it a big enough shock when I do my supermarket shopping here, let alone being taken for a mug and ripped off in to the bargain! :-)

Purple **^*Sparkly*^** Diamond Report 19 Dec 2012 07:07

I hate that and have been caught out before now, luckily noticing as I reach the tills or being told the full price and realising I have totally misunderstood the labelling.

I was in Sainsbury's the other afternoon buying groceries, I bought two packs of those new vit d yogourts as they were two for £3 or £1.99 each pack. When I got home I checked my receipt (normally try to do it in the store but was tired and loaded up with shopping). I found I hadn't been given the discount of 98p so I rang to check. The chap answering, a manager apparently, went off to find out and said he would ring me back in a few minutes. Not sure what happened as he was 40 mins ringing back and I had tried twice to call again and got no reply. When he did ring back he said I was correct and should have been given a 98p refund, which I can claim another time in the store, but the mistake wouldn't be rectified until over night. I can't understand why he couldn't get it sorted straightaway as I pointed out there would be several more people paying over the odds who might not check their bills and realise. He agreed but said that was the way things worked.

Flipping supermarkets, you need a head like a computer to sort the bargains and prices out and then they diddle you as well
