With the post from GeordieinNorfolk in mind are you sure there is no mistake on the calendar?

We had a patch of wallpaper that needed sorting out in the kitchen, been putting it off for ages. So I thought I would get it done today, about an hours work including getting into the eves cupboard to find the paper and mixing up the paste.

Moved out the microwave and mixer, to find them sitting in a puddle of water, traced it to the drain tap behind the boiler.

Slight problem, the units at the side need to come out to reach it, so get busy with the screwdriver.

OK so into the main loft to turn off the tank which turns out to be full of some form of alien life (bacterial growth from additives in the system) so I’m up to almost the tops of my marigolds cleaning that out.

Great, drain down heating system and re-washer the drain tap, shouldn’t take long.

Pop the hose on and run it out to the drain, it’s full of leaves so cleaned them out, only to find the water is right to the top.

Marigolds on again clean out some silt, pump furiously with the plunger to get it running but no luck, drain rods out of garden shed. More pumping to no avail.

Penny starts to drop……lift manhole Oh-joy!

Back to the shed, extra rods and more furious pumping, whilst trying to keep out of the way of the splashes.

Look hopefully towards the heavens and get………… rewarded with rain!

Scour Yellow pages desperately trying to get a drain company that can come out today who won’t rip me off.

Cavalry finally arrives in his little van and after an hour of drain rods and jet flushing working by torch light we have drainage!

Now do I try to repair the wallpaper again tomorrow?
