At the bottom of my screen, there is a blue rectangle, Mute (in red) and a flashing ON/OFF

I don't know where this came from.

I can't click on it.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of this annoying flasher?

:-(

Forgot to say - I tried rebooting.

Have you tried to right click on it and see its content,,,,,,is it volume control?

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 13 Dec 2012 23:58

I can't click on it at all. The mouse arrow disappears when I try to click on it.

Nothing to do with the volume.

It's so annoying, flashing away........ and it gets in the way!!

Scozz, do you use your computer to make/receive phone calls?

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 14 Dec 2012 03:35

No, don't make phone calls using this computer.

I got fed up with being flashed, so I turned the computer OFF (not reboot), and left it for a few hours (after my last post here).

I switched it back on five minutes ago, and the annoying flashing thing has gone!

Weird.

I go to a computer class but the last class for the year was last week! Doesn't start again until end of January.

In the meantime, I'll keep turning the computer OFF! lol

:-D

No problems, Scozz :-D

I'm no expert myself, but did notice on the speaker systems, you can mute if receiving or making calls. I just wondered if that had been inadvertently activated and was showing as an icon :-)

Arrrrrrrgh! It's back! Been away from the computer since my previous post.

I turned my speakers on, to see if that would make any difference. Nope. Speakers are usually off, unless I want to listen to something.

No idea why this pest of a flasher is here.

I'm going out soon, so will turn the computer off again.

Will put a sticky note on it, it's SO annoying! :-P lol

I forgot to turn the computer off.

The weird flasher has gone.

This is getting weirder & weirder

I wonder if it is something to do with your graphics media accelerator?

You could do a system restore, back to a point before the annoying little 'flasher' came to visit!

graphics media accelerator?

the flasher has gone (for now)....... no idea where it came from, or where it went!

Gee

Gee Report 14 Dec 2012 10:37

I wondered if you have a problem with your graphics card, not that I can help you fix it :-(

If it keeps coming back, try the system restore

Failing that, get your sunglasses on ;-)

How about trying this:

On your monitor, you will have a menu button, it looks like a piece of A4 paper with lines across it

If you press it, it will give you a menu bar, and you can click on factory settings to return the monitor its original default settings

Might be an idea to run a full security scan - just in case. But does sound like a 'settings' problem

LadyScozz

LadyScozz Report 14 Dec 2012 23:46

It's disappeared - again!

No idea why it appears, I haven't changed anything on the computer.

I'll try all the suggestions ~ thankyou all :-D
