I´m another who hates ironing but has an OH who irons whatever is needed, slightly under sufferance but that was the agreement we had when he had silk shirts for work :-D. He also knows where the hoover is and the mop, cooker, washing up bowl, the shopping bags, and lots of other household appliances. bless him. What he doesn´t know is where the screwdrivers, loppers or any other garden implement is unless I either threaten to do it myself or get the ladders out. Mind the garden is mine (as agreement when I decided to plant flowers.)

Update!
Ironing done now with smug look upon my face...........

Actually there is really nothing to it, and with one of these new ultra steam
irons one can get a facial sauna at the same time. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Actually, I've avoided doing anything today, just been incredibly lazy. No excuses, just can't be a***d!

I have always envied a friend who's husband does all the ironing.
The reason being he spent 22 yrs in the Army and what ever she ironed wasn't up to his high standard.

My husband has NEVER touched an iron and wouldn't even know how to put the board up.

I keep saying he should learn to do a bit just in case, but is adamant I will always be around to do it for him. :-( :-D

But I can use avoidance tactics when it comes to doing things like cleaning windows, cleaning the oven etc. :-)

I really don't mind ironing - it's clean, warm, and you can listen to something while you do it. What I REALLY hate is washing floors: I even got one of those new steam mops, but it is still languishing, unused in the garage!

my lovley OH always did the ironing in our house - I broke my arm and he had no choice, he decided he quite liked it, so I broke my arm again just to be sure he'd carry on!! Well he's been gone just over ten years now and I have only had the iron out about four or five times

In my able bodied days - I realised my secret was out when dau. aged about 15 found me gardening and asked what should I be doing? Another 'get-out' was baking.

I never liked ironing and when son was at home 14 shirts every week (five were always white). I used to watch tv whilst I did it and have regular coffee breaks.

Update! I have went into the utlility room to get the iron, and ended up preparing the veggies for dinner, and now I am back on here procsatinating . There is no hope.............

John These ironing services are all over England. I have a fantastic lady who is my ironing fairy, she and collects and brings it back all beautifully ironed on hangers. I have brought one of those super duper steam irons, so really can't justify not doing it.

My OH is working full time at the moment, but ironing may go on his list of "things to do in retirement" :-D :-D

I Never ever iron - just grab things from machine as soon as cycle finished...smooth out on work surface hang up - hey presto done!!

Had enough of all that ironing malarkey when children were in uniforms and fabrics needed it - but no more

Any one wants anything ironed they can look for the iron themselves :-D :-D

One of things I noticed when I moved to Rhondda was that there were clothes ironing services everywhere. Pick up, iron, return. Very reasonable rates. Never saw that in England or North Wales.

Think most women iron under suffererance. Most men have no idea where iron is (ditto vacuum cleaner) :-(

Paula+ Have a cup of coffee and a mince pie, put your feet up and leave ironing till tomorrow
:-D

I just dont do Ironing even though I have one of those presser irons. me & ironing never did get along and now I have given up completely .

I hang OH shirts on the line on hangers and they dry without too much creasing , IF he wants a more pristine shirt then he knows where the presser is . !! :-D :-D

................. Is it me? Or does anyone else use avoidance tactics when not wanting to do certain chores? For example I do not like ironing, so I will look for other things to do instead. It is not a question of me being lazy, this morning I have sorted out some clothes for the charity shop, and cleaned out the pantry. I am just having a coffee, looking round for something else to do to avoid the ironing.

;-)
