Unfortunately this is the down side of parents refusing to allow their children to be vaccinated as babies. Let the other parents have their children vaccinated…that will protect ours..........Not. Too many parents with the same attitude.

At least one TV item has recommended pregnant women being vaccinated if they missed out. I’m not sure if this is a good thing, but at least it is an option to provide protection to their baby until it reaches the appropriate age.

Our eldest fitted after the first injection. We were terrified that she would catch Whooping Cough while she was still tiny. Unless there are reasons ‘not’ to have the injection, not only does it protect the baby, but also gives peace of mind to the parents.

Fingers crossed that the baby in A&E, whether they have it or croup, recovers with no harm done.

My youngest daughter was refused the whooping cough injection as a baby because of too much asthma in the family. At 2 years old what did she get - whooping cough - thank God it was only mild but it left her with a very weak chest and bad asthma.

I didn't get round to having my daughter immunised against whooping cough (1977), and she did get it aged 6. Meant she was away from school for 5 weeks. Not only that, I caught it from her, and it was b****y awful!
Yes, I wished I'd been more sensible.
