Tragic accident in Egypt

Isn't it awful. Such a tragedy, all those lives lost, and so young too.

Sorry to say it, but it didn't surprise me to learn that the chap in charge of the crossing was asleep. I regularly see policemen asleep whilst on duty - either they're supposed to be on point duty at a major road intersection (and the traffic justs snarls up) or theyr'e supposed to on 'guard' duty outside a bank or embassy - it's not unusual to see them snoozing. The last time I went through airport security at Cairo the guard at the x-ray machine was fast asleep, everyone just walking past.
The people in charge don't actually take charge, so there's never any accountability.

And without wishing to sound unkind - it won't be that anyone was working over-long hours, you can bet your bottom dollar on that.

I am lost for words.

Heart goes out to all the families concerned.

Only just seen this. What an awful tragedy, poor little ones and their poor families. So much sadness. And the awful guilt of the man who fell asleep. Who knows why as Liz says, maybe he had worked overlong hours, or was ill. I am sure he is going to suffer punishment of some sort but his biggest punishment will be knowing he was responsible for all those deaths.

Poor little mites, such a tragedy and so unnecessary if the man in charge had not fallen asleep. Then again, who knows how long he had been at work, things like health and safety etc aren't always the same as here in the UK and other countries and the safety record wasn't good in the first place.

May these little children and anyone else involved, including the bus driver I believe, rest in peace.

Fifty children aged from 4 - 6 years were killed with their driver when a train ploughed into their bus. The man in charge of the crossing was asleep. Dears knows what those families are going through.
