If it's just for a small amount, the Kenwood mini chopper is excellent, just like a small food processer. And it is one of Delia's reccomendations! Costs around £19 - 20.

I have a Curry's Essentials mini food processor cos t was £14 and it's brilliant for chopping onions, carrots and most everything.
Wouldn't be without mine now.

You could suggest she buys the frozen chopped onions, peppers and mushrooms to help her out a bit.

There are often gadgets in the Betterwear/Kleeneze brochures too that do apples and other veg.

The "magic wand" one, usually comes with a small chopper.

I wouldn't be without mine, use it nearly every day.

I also have a big food processor, it stays in the cupboard except for when I have a lot more to chop, or making (some types of) pastry.

I still use a knife for chopping garlic! Don't like those awful garlic press things.
