Near Cheltenham. Really nice food; meat, fish, cheese, bread, vegetables etc etc, all really fresh and much of it locally sourced. A lot of it organic as well.

Quite expensive of course but well worth it if you want to know where your food comes from and if it hasn't travelled loads of miles.

Really crowded because it only opened yesterday. Wholefoods market, anyone else come across them? I think they are mainly around London and are an American store. All the staff were really pleasant and friendly (will it last?) And stuff is packed in recycled brown paper carrier bags. :-)

Sounds Interesting, especially the Brown Paper Bags, things tend to go in cycles, perhaps other stores will take notice and the Plastic Bags will go.**M**.

I hope so Merlin, I get so annoyed standing behind somebody in Tesco who has at least ten plastic carriers loaded into their trolley.

Just a bit Sue but I wonder if this is the start of spreading out from London. It is a bit of an 'occasional' shop for us because the stuff is dearer. But I would go again for meat and fish because it looked so good. We bought 4 sausages- each one was the size of two normal shop ones, two Cumbrian and two red onion and pork and apple and that came to just over £4.

Gloucester or Cheltenham? The store we went to is near Sainsburys on the Gallagher estate at Cheltenham (Tewkesbury road I think.)

I love this store. The one I know (think it is in Kensington) has been going for some time, Ann, and does a very good trade. Even in this credit crisis, people do care about where their food comes from and there are more and more paper bags being dished out in various shops, I am happy to say.

Oh good BC I am pleased somebody else has heard of them. they have a good health food department too. I did manage to drag my OH past the cakes, buns and pasties section...... just.

I used to shop there when we were near Washington DC for a few months back in 2005. The fruit and veg was lovely, as was the deli counter. Pricey but most things were not pre-packed so you just picked as much as you wanted.

Yes that's right Sheila, the spices etc were loose and you packed your own.
