I ate my lunch on the deck, looking at the Pacific.

In 15 minutes I saw 8 whales..... enormous splashes.

Got the telescope..... and the whales were hiding!

Thunderstorms expected later this afternoon, I don't think I'll be sitting on the deck with a telescope.

:-D

Humpbacks Scozz? Last one I saw was a Pilot whale which came up to look at my boat (tiny 5 metre launch) as I went through the Gibaltar Straits. Remember seeing Manta rays "broaching" off Nicaragua many years ago - they can really fly!

No idea what they were Malcolm, I just saw a flick of a tail and a huge splash.

By the time I got to the telescope they had gone!

Then it rained for a couple of hours, so that stopped me watching.

Thunderstorms have been "postponed" until tomorrow, maybe the whales will swim off somewhere more pleasant?

I'm on the east coast of Australia.
