Contacts list problem.

Hi everyone,
I'm a new member and am having problems using my Contacts List.
Under the Column "Tree" there are 2 items.
One Showing "View" with a Tick next to it, and the other showing "Stop" also with a Tick next to it.
When I click on either, nothing happens except the rotating image with "Please Wait" under it. I have waited for up to 8 minutes. What am I doing Wrong?
