Not Christmas presents, but a British Legion Poppy, local seller has a friend who is into doing needle craft, and she has come up with poppy themed earmuffs,and alice bands and a couple of other things........different, but all in a good cause...

When my children were young, many moons ago, they always made me hand made presents both for Christmas and birthday.
I always thought they were perfect, it showed they cared enough to spend time making them.
They had money to spend, but I just loved home made cards and little gifts.

Marilyn I will look in here at Christmas to see if you rec' the mulled wine and can still 'type in a straight line' lol...

My friend makes the most superb Mulled Wine.....

Now I have a feeling that because I bought him some cinnamon sticks from Cyprus for his Damson Gin this year I might get a bottle of Mulled wine that I kept telling him I so loved ...
Now that would be one hell of a Christmas present .that money cant buy ...

Island I think one of the nicest home made presents I got a few years back was some home made truffle choc's a friend and her children had made, they were wrapped individually and then popped into a gift bag with shredded cellophane :-D

Sounds interesting PH and much more a sense of anticipation ...I would be happy with the pickled walnuts :-D

Marilyn, I used to have a glass-topped kidney dressing table from when I was little and always had little doily type mats on it.... I gave it to a friend when we moved and I don't half miss it.

When I was little , I had no pocket money ,but I made sure my aunties had a crochet doily for there bedroom dressing table as their Christmas present ....I was so proud to have made them,and always had a great big thank you from them........other than that they had a packet of grips...LOL dont know who paid for them ...my mother I suppose !

I have been told by family members that due to the fact that they are saving for their wedding, they will be making home made gifts this Christmas.

Of course i have told them to not even worry about gifts for me.........but i know they will.

I am really looking forward to seeing what they come up with.

Whatever it is, it will be extra special knowing they were home made.

presents?

I was in town on Saturday and looked at some craft stalls set up in the centre, and in the nearby major store a range of 'craft-style' items ...scented fabric hearts etc ( shabby chic).

Would you rather have a boxed but mass produced item or something a little bit less 'fancy' in packaging terms but really 'hand made' and original? ( And NOT 'made in China!)
