Where is "Judy in the States", when you need her?

Given in and sent the support team a link to this thread but do not hold out any hope for a decent reply.

Anyone got any ideas as it has just happened again and only on this site.

Thanks Ronald and Kay

Currently using Windows XP and IE8

No problems with other sites - Ancestry, FMP, SP etc are all working okay.

Will not bother to contact GR as you get the same answer everytime and they do not bother to read the message anyway.

See what happens over the next few days.

Kay????

GB its a conflict with this site,,,,,,,

Mine keeps freezing took PC into shop but its all ok, I struck up GR in their workshop and ------yep it froze,,,,,,,,,they said it could be one of their ads or a glitch on a server they are using....but no other site is acting up.

GR will of course put it down to anything but here.....

Run a security scan - just in case. It's possibly caused by some adverts on here tho.

Wot version of IE are you using?

Someone else raised point about Windows updates - is your Op system up to date? Windows 7 downloaded a security update couple of nights ago

GlitterBaby Report 29 Sep 2012 12:28

Oh bother

Just had "a problem with webpage has caused IE to close tab" while using GR.

Closed everything down and came back and straight away got "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer"

Any ideas on this one.

Thanks.

My security setting is Medium to High which has not changed.

This problem only started after about 2 hours of using this site and was not appearing on any other site.

Seems alright so far this morning so fingers crossed.

Thanks.

The message is appearing as a result of your IE security settings, it could be that they are set too high. The default setting of Medium High is appropriate for Internet. Setting it higher is likely to trigger cause the message you mention to appear.

Go to Tools, Security to check your current settings. I would suggest you set them to default and see if that makes a difference.

Incidentally, a defrag will only help your disk drive to access its files more quickly, and that is assuming the are fragmented in the first place - it will not make the slightest difference to the problem you have highlighted.

Thanks Barry

About to switch off anyway as past my bedtime :-D

So will see how it works tomorrow after a defrag.

GB, I'd like to suggest that you switch your computer off completely, leave it for about 10 seconds for the drive to wind down, and then start it again. It seems as if the fault is possibly with your computer rather than a site.

It's possible also that your system might be short of a MicroSoft update, too. These things come left, right, and centre. They are a real pain, in my opinion. Far too many of them.

Do you run ccleaner.com to rid your hard drive of rubbish? This helps to reduce the waste. A defrag of the hard drive is helpful every so often, too.

Good luck.

Just changing boards brings up that message.

"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to your computer"

Why have I suddenly got this message appearing just on this site tonight ?

Been using Ancestry, FMP etc and not got that message.
