Detective

Male actuarial tables (update for 2012)

80 - 8.6 years (woman 9.8 years)
85 - 6.2 years
90 - 4.5 years
95 - 3.2 years

These are Department of Pension figures. I honestly think they are wrong, and I know Norwich Union and others in life insurance business use higher figures than these.

So I do think, now Harry has made 80, there is a good probability he will make 90. And a sex change would increase his chances even further.:-D ;-)

And I am very pleased the DWP bases our pensions on their data. One day they will wake up and smell the coffee :-(

Happy Birthday...if you've made it to 80, there's a good chance you'll make it to 90 :-D

Enjoy your day - you're only as old as you feel ;-)

Met a gentleman in Tonypandy in the South Wales valleys yesterday. Mr Ward. He goes for a walk up in the hills round his house every morning. Strides out with no stick.

He is 99 on 6th January next. And his children are nearing your age. He would write something about you Harry that resembled John Milton's sonnet - arriving at my three and twentieth year.

Something like:

"But thy semblance doth deceive the truth
That you to manhood have arrived so near"

From John (66 and a quarter) - and still not arrived at manhood :-( :-(

Wish you many more good years yet.

Eighty and 10 hours to be precise. One or two longer serving members might just have an interest. A small poem - nonsense plus a bit of seriousness - hopefully to amuse.
My thanks to Elizabeth for her kind message.

I'm 80 years of age today,
Feeling only 78;
Still seeking greener pastures,
But can no longer climb the gate.

Young at heart, but no-where else,
No sin for many moons;
Candle power would heat the Crem,
Only action - that of prunes.

My dreams have lost their future,
Dwell in fields of yesterday;
Still, no time of life is perfect,
So enjoy it come what may.

The niagra tablets don't seem to work,
Sexual uplift is a truss;
Still look at pretty women,
Cleftomania the only plus.

What might have been has vanished,
Grace and vigour no longer there;
Best utter words unspoken,
As you whisper when in prayer.

Hankies and socks for the birthday boy,
The worst punster you'll ever meet;
No present should be sniffed at,
And 80's no mean feat.

So here I am at a ripe old age,
Allowed to repent at leisure;
Thinking of so many friends,
Denied that simple pleasure.

Thanks for reading. Best wishes to all

Happy days.

:-)
