Well, I've been divorced for nearly 25 years - and we're good friends - which is more than can be said for his relationship with his ex Mrs number 2!!
However, Mrs number 2's sons and our (married) daughters are very closer to each other in a brotherly/sisterly way.

I've aways preferred being on my own, so I'm happy- and his current partner & I are bestest friends too - as are her 14 year old daughter and our 10 year old grand daughter :-D

It's what I call an extended extended family!!!

Bigamy is having one wife too many. Monogamy is much the same.

This is, of course, the male perspective.

I can appreciate some answers here after 2 failed marriages but I have my 3rd and that .well

so I do occasionally put my ideas in his head (usually when he´s about to fall asleep)
I know when not to push an issue
but if I do when to stop.
We have worked together and now apart so I have learnt has he did to give freedom
Mostly he is my best friend and even though we are occasionally differ on issues we listen to each other, and we look after each other.

I know he respects my views even when he doesn´t agree the same as I will respect his if I don´t agree.
I can´t say like Shirley we have been together that long but I can say we are best friends. Well done Shirley

Shirley~I,m getting the hang of it

Well for us its being each others best friend and knowing we can rely on each other.

He was happy to let me do all the money transactions when we were both working and to do any confrontations .if any , when things maybe went a bit wrong. Daughter used to say she would bow out when mum was on the war path.

I retired first being 3 years younger so things still jogged along as usual BUT when he retired and we got into a routine he was then resentful that I was telling him what to do (his words) NO I was still doing what he had wanted me to do all the previous years BUT i took on board what he was saying and tried to go about things a bit differently ie He thought it was HIS idea even though the initial thought was met with a blank NO!.

I had to reign in my organizing so as not to undermine him or make him feel he wasnt significant. Its not been easy cos I am an organizing gal but his feelings are more important.

So 55 years later we are still friends and each others BEST PAL,
