The one thing that money cannot buy, no matter how much you have, and where you have it, is your health.
Look at the people we have very sadly lost during this week. They were better off financially than most of us on here, but, in the end, that did not matter.
And I mean this with feeling.

Not me either Vera, but if you,ve earned and paid Tax on it why pay extra? just to let it be given away to other countries who then invest it in Swiss Bank accounts for their private use.If its possible to get some back from the Tax Dodgers and use it for the good of this Country good, but not to pay off the interest charges involved by borrowing money to give away to places like India ,China, Brazil even Russia. just to boost the Egos of MPS. **M**.

I've just caught something on the news. Not 100% but think they are looking to have lists of clients for scrutiny.

I agree Merlin those Health tourists should be targetted too. I also agree that some wealthy people do a lot of good but I doubt the people who hide their money offshore put much into the economy. It would be interesting to know who they are. I can safely say its not me.

Gwynne, the detrement to the NHS is the total waste that goes on there, too many chiefs and not enough Indians,Millions of pounds frittered away on things which are nothing to do with the Health of people. such as stopping smoking,if they can afford to buy cigarettes they can afford the cure. removal of Tattoos, sex changes ,boob enhancement,(Excluding those who really need it) etc. also making sure that like other Countries people coming here to get things done on our NHS. pay their bills.**M**.

I don't think they have any right to protect their wealth to the detriment of the NHS.

They already have more money than can be spent in a lifetime - why shouldn't they pay into the system of the country that made them wealthy?

They make me sick.

Greed is so ugly.

I would,nt say" All "but a lot of these people own or invest a lot of money in firms in this Country And so provide a lot of jobs /income to people here,so don,t knock all of them they have every right to protect what profits they make from the nutters who waste it away on projects which are detremental to this Country.**M**

Yes what they do it wrong - but are we any better when we put our own savings (meagre in comparison) into ISA's.

All perfectly legal - but morally wrong

I don't know how they sleep at night but they do - very comfortably. Should not be allowed when the originairy EDIT ordinary!! man and woman has no choice but to pay up thru PAYE and are taxed on small savings.

Come on 'call me Dave' plug these loopholes and bring the money back into the country and if they decide to leave the country to avoid the taxes so be it. We need to get rid of that sort anyway.

Unfortunately, Roy, they will have found ways to hand it over to their nearest & dearest - buying properties without (yet again) paying tax is one way - there are firms to help you do it, if you have enough 'readies'.

When i die i may have money left in the bank to cover the cost of my funeral or i may not but either way i will have lost very little

However on the other hand when these people die they will have lost all of their millions

Who's the fool ?

apparently, have squirrelled away in offshore accounts,
£13 Trillion!! Aren't they lucky bunnies?

This means a loss to the country of £180 billion - nearly enough, I should imagine, to get us out of the morass!!
