If I lived nearer or in a more accessible location (no Gloucester is not very accessible by rail I doubt I could get there, attend a meeting and get home comfortably in a day) I would go so go for it Island. They are doing their best by trying to involve people who are affected by changes but they can't win can they? London is probably central for more people than most other places.

they did once before do an online survey but this is more to trial changes I think.

I was going to say if their main office is in London then it makes sense to have the meeting in London.

Provided they include in that meeting all the complaints that have been sent to GR. and after the meeting is over. put it up on GR site with what was said and what they intend to do about it.?

it is not an outing. but a meeting for complaints. who wants to sit somewhere for a few hours listening to some people who complain about a small thing. that may affect them but not other on the GR site.?

I will be very satisfied if they sort some of my main complaints that not only affect me but others on this site.

I could get to the meeting reasonably easily but don't want Platinum Membership as I have access to the information elsewhere so no real incentive to go.

I think they should invite a selective few from various areas and pay all expenses, they say £50.that will just about cover Afternoon Tea at the Ritz..If they want people to participate in updating the site they should be more realistic and spend a little money ,They can Afford it.**M**.

I notice that only 161 members have actually looked at GR's post asking for help. Yet everyone moans when they are not asked about things or consulted.

As for inviting people to London..... if that is where the offices are it makes sense.

I just think London during the Olympic year is a big ask of anyone even if you ignore cost!

A proper Survey would benefit everyone especially if they revealed the results fully. They would also get a better idea of how their Members view the service they provide etc.

Island Report 26 Jun 2012 11:11

Well said Stray :-D

I also think there is more to it than an online questionaire - "We are inviting members to join the Genes team for the day in London in July. You’ll be able to spend some time looking at the changes we have made and then give us your feedback and suggestions"

Well I might just put my name down :-D

they have asked ALL member who wished to take part,

i think some ask to much of GR, there trying there best and when they do ask advice, its not good enough to some,

they have a suggestions board that any member can suggest if they wish, howwever it tends to be tuk over and osed for people to moan on lol,

somtimes people are to quick to comment ont he negative, and miss the positives, they must be doing somthing right or we all wouldnt yr after year pay our subs to be here lololol,

Nice gesture from GR.

I won't take it, because 50pounds won't go far for an airfare from Australia.

Why can't we have a survery for EVERYBODY?

Not one of those "rigged" YES/NO surveys, but one that asks ALL MEMBERS for their opinion. A notice should be placed on the HOME PAGE to notify those members who don't use the Community Boards.

It would be nice if GR would let us know what they are considering changing and/or upgrading.

It may not be practical but give them a go - they seem to be trying to do what they can to improve the site. If it doesn't work then have a moan but at least give them a chance.

Kense Report 26 Jun 2012 09:26

Everyone has had over a year to put their opinions on the Suggestions board.

It seems that GR have taken note of those and have a big update ready, but unlike last time they are going to let a few people have a go before they introduce it, to try to make sure there are not any major problems.

It is to be hoped that those selected will be constructive and dedicated to the task and not just there because they think it is some sort of freebie.

At least £150 on the train and 3/4 hour on a bus before I have to walk 15 minutes to the station.3 hours on the train and then across London to whereever it will be held..too shattered to get a train back so would have to get B & B for the night,,(goodness knows how much that would be)
Then train home another 3 hours to Leeds then 3/4 hour on another bus before I walk home.

And as for them coming to York on Saturday I will send then a map for the route..

How about at least £1000 for me to attend (if I happened to be chosen) ...........

.................. £50 would just about get me to the airport, and pay the Airport Tax, with nothing left over for the ticket.

Disenfranchised by GR once again :-|

I'm guessing the result will be "deja vu" as well...shame really,Member input is really important & they don't seem to value what they have.

There are some fantastic Researchers on here & they should be paying them for the contributions they make-without them the site would be left wanting.
