I am giving a party next week to celebrate the Summer Solstice, amongst other things

I would like a theme. Any suggestions apart from twigs in
hair and pagan rites of some kind? :-D

Funny you should say that, Ann, because just two nights ago a passing 'gentleman' was spotted just outside my window and he was waving......well I shall leave it to your imagination. :-D

nothing much surprises me any more - sad to say, but then having worked in a psychiatric hospital for nigh on thirty years I think I've seen and heard it all - most mornings on my way into the ward after having collected the day's post I was usully met by one of our lovely residents who was usually just wearing a pair of socks, sometimes just one!!! he didn't seem to notice, so neither did I!!!

Lol Ann....but somehow one doesn't expect it outside ones home! :-D

Yes, dear Sue, Sunshine and Peasandluuurve :-D :-D :-D

1 bunch cleaned fresh mint
1 cup sugar
4 juiced lemons
4 juiced limes
1 750ml light rum
1 ltr club soda
.....ice cubes

In a large pitcher stir mint sprigs with sugar and lemon and lime juices until well combined.
Add ice, rum and club soda and stir together. Pour into glasses, straining out mint.

Then wearing your bestest white robes with mistletoe in your hair and with a glass in each hand....you'll have a great Solstice party dwarling

Give sun-shaped cookies as party favors. Make cookies using a basic sugar cookie recipe and cut into sun shapes, Decorate with orange and yellow icing, place in plastic bags, and tie up with ribbons.

The Party Plan

Choose food that doesn't require utensils. It leaves guests more free to mingle and talk. Pick chilled appetizers that can be prepared the day before.
Serve food and drinks poolside or on your porch or patio. With a few tablecloth clips, any table can become an outdoor oasis.
Use plastic plates so that breakage doesn't spoil the good time. Party stores carry plastic plates and glasses in a variety of festive colors.
Use pink, orange, and yellow for the color scheme, and carry out that scheme with the tablecloth, flowers, plates, napkins, and glasses.
Don't forget to set out some sunscreen and bug spray to keep the fun in the sun comfortable for everyone.
Think ahead and have a rain plan.
