Our small village has been celebrating all weekend, with Family lunch picnic & games on Saturday, 3 assorted bands playing all day yesterday then the lighting of beacon & fireworks, today another party day with bouncy castle & music. Will have to catch up on TV coverage next week.

Just doing more baking for tea party this afternoon, carrot cake anyone?

I might do some baking today. House is all spotless and laundry all done..........hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm *flicks through recipe books*

OMG Hayley, you just reminded me. AT the silver jubilee in 1977, we had a float from our works, in the local carnival parade, and I was dressed as Britannia, with a long cream evening dress and cape, and a borrowed Fire chief's helmet covered in silver foil, and a trident made especially, and I had to sit in the middle of a huge 50p on the lorry...

I'd started school just the year before.

we had street party in 77 we did a puppet show and had a hat competition. Recently put photos on school site on Facebook amazing how many people joined in remembering bits of it.

We had a street party back in 77...i just remember it being very drizzly and the mums fussing about the weather a lot lol.

We've got a flag up outside our house...and a series of bunting on the side fence out front.x
