WELL as a Londoner who took all that jazz for granted I must say I do have a soft spot for the Royal family/ I was a WW2 child and although I have,nt memories of the Royal family at that time I do know through my parents how much the visits by the King and Queen to the bombed areas meant so much to Londoners
When King George died in 1952 I went with my mum and queued for hours to file ,very quickly!!, past the catafalque where he was resting. When the Queens coronation was held i had only just started work in the April and I camped out overnight with some work colleagues to see her ride by to the Abbey. My elder brother.now deceased, was in the RAF and was volunteered!! because of his height to be in one of the Air Force infantry that marched as part of the procession.

I do think she has done a fantastic job, Yes some of her children didnt get it right. do we all?? they have made wrong decisions and had marriage breakdowns, havent we had some in our own families!! but all in all I am PROUD to be British and still have a Royal family

As you say, a lot of people may be getting together with family or friends, just because they have the time.

Enjoy the long bank holiday, what ever you decide to do,
