ZZzzz

no point in reporting it

ALL bags can be opened at any time after you have handed them over to the airline, whether you are there or not

It is called security ................ and you have no come back.

and yes, things can disappear.

OH had his case opened behind the scenes at an American airport ........ and then was called over the tannoy.

Someone had forgotten to re-pack his case, and left a folder lying on the side.

It was found, someone else looked inside and found a list of names of people attending a meeting.

The airline saw the list, and realised 2 people with names on that list were checked on a flight.

They called OH's name first ............ and handed the file folder back to him.

It was actually a folder containing notes from an ultra-secret meeting, and no information was to be released to anyone not at that meeting!

There wasn't really an apology, because Customs and Immigration, and Security, are all within their rights to open bags since 9/11.

So ......... he got that back, but there are a few complaints every year from people who have lost items from cases .... and again no real come back.

Thanks everyone, I won't be putting any in my case, I see if I can buy some there.

Bobtanian
I don't use locks to secure my case, I use cable ties instead that way if they do manage to open my case I will know as soon as I take it off the belt and can report it straight away. :-D

The cans will be picked up on the xray of your bags, behind the scenes

your bag(s) will be opened by customs staff

the beer cans will be removed

and your case(s) closed .......... but probably not locked

you may lose other stuff as well.

NOT a good idea to pack cans of beer ...... or anything else like that

Shouldn't do; most passenger aircraft holds are pressurised, but to a lesser pressure than we are used to at sea level.

Cans of beer - usually a pack of 24, so designed for one beer to be drunk each hour - are heavy. Quite frankly, I cannot think of any one in their right mind who would even think of doing this! Excess baggage can be very expensive! Come to think of this I wonder if they would be allowed to put the cans on the aircraft at check-in time.

My next thought is - will some idiot RR this thread? I have just see the one about Beaches has been. What IS going on with GR.? It's time GR 'staff' - if they are ever 'there' - put a stop to this disruption of complete stupidity!!

So there!!
