I used to rent statics regularly when I was younger - - for the same money you would never be able to rent a hotel suite with two or three bedrooms, living room, shower and kitchen, with the luxury of not being limited by anybody's timetables. |

We had a static, near Pevensey, for 10 years, sold it 3 years ago and regret it terribly. Problem was there was absolutely nothing on our site and son started to refuse to come with me so couldn't see the point of keeping it on when it wasn't being used. |

We have a static caravan which we have yet to open up after the winter, so that's nearly a month gone already. Trouble is, other things take our time then when we are free the weather is not always great and we think we might as well watch the rain from indoors instead of travelling for an hour to do so. |

Those were the days when for a small fee you could park up in a Farmers field for a few nights, and really enjoy the countryside (Fresh Eggs and Milk off the farm and sometimes home cured ham) its too organised now and too many restrictions.I expect Teresa belongs to the CC.of GB.they used to be pretty good and had a good list of sites to stay.Lots of memories, now I prefer "Comfort" :-D.Hotels with good restaraunts and food, and of course a decent Bar. However to those of you who still enjoy your caravans, Enjoy, before more restrictions or Taxes take it away from you. ;-) |

Sorry had a couple of holidays in caravans and didn't enjoy them at all, just felt too claustrophobic for me, preferred to hire chalets in places like Hos*****s when the kids were small and partments, cottages for us now. Rarely stay in hotels, only short stays in Shear****. |

Touring vans are great, especially if you have children, when I had mine I used to go away most weekends in it,not so much in winter, but as soon as the weather picked up off we would go. :-D |

We have spent many happy hours over the years, caravaning, either on our own, or years ago, with the children. Much prefer it to Hotels etc. No restrictions, eat when you like, sleep when you like, and come in when you like. Can't beat it. |

We were away in our caravan in the Feb half term in Brighton Emma. We woke up on the first morning to -5 degrees. It was that cold snap we had. |
