I will not be reading it, the main sales will obviously be in the States where she is feted everywhere. No doubt Dermot it will be syndicated to all US magazines and TV channels.

Personally I'd like to see a boycott of all books that make money for an involved party in a murder.

Dermot

Dermot Report 17 Feb 2012 20:49

The Publisher would not have put up the money unless the sales prospects are great - guaranteed by us gullible purchasers & licences for summaries in national & international newspapers.

As to the accuracy of the narrative, let's not forget that the world is sprinkled with untrustworthiness, deceit & double-dealing. It will not be easy to reconcile the conflicting testimonies - assuming we are really bothering to try.

If this is accurate it gives a good idea of the timing and background of events

i thought at the time she was guilty,
i thought at the re trail she was guilty,
i think her writing a book is very very very bad taste, and even if she isnt guilty, she should be thinking of "her best friends" family, and what they have already been put through.

having said that, shes only human and being offered an obsene amount of money, to tell her "story" and they say money talks, :-\ even if i dont think its right.

Ann, this whole tragedy made me so damn mad at the time and my feeling of injustice really did peak (I thought) when the appeal was upheld. This latest money making book telling the 'truth' is just rubbing salt into the very raw wounds of the Kercher family.

I'll never forget the scene outside the apartment where Meredith was murdered - in the background was Amanda Knox with her then Italian boyfriend hugging each other and gazing into each others' eyes - no sign of trauma or sadness - they were totally detached from what had happened to their friend - I found it quite disturbing - so she's telling the truth!!! well why didn't she tell "this truth" in court rather than put it in a book

Blimey !!! There's a lot to this one isn't there !!! I've done a little reading on it this morning ....can't believe I didn't follow it more closely !!!

.........trying to be impartial but it's very hard when stories get changed so early on !!!!!

I'll have a read of course of any UK links provided...but will search for forums with translators who give a different point of view world wide.

Honestly....having followed other cases......our press is literally A JOKE ...and the independent.........pffffffft....Hari anyone ???? lol x

hmmmmmmm I was going to have a little looksie before bed...but having seen some of the UK press's somewhat unjournalistic approach to reporting in other *high profile* cases...I'll leave it til tomorrow and search worldwide....

if they said the sky was blue I'd look outside myself to check for sure lol..

I have absolutely NO FAITH in their standards whatsoever.

I'll come back to you on this Sue....you've whetted my appetite for a bit of a google about tomorrow x

There is comment about the DNA evidence, which was the sole basis of the case against and the original conviction( it would seem I've only read quickly)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2044935/Amanda-Knox-freed-Now-DNA-evidence-trial-Kercher-murder-acquittal.html

It's very similar to the argument put in the Lawrence case as regards contamination of evidence? ...EDIT except in this case there would be every opportunity for Knox's DNA to be present 'legitimately' where it was 'found' ...

The way she was welcomed home in the States you would have thought she was Mother Theresa! Couldn't watch it, each time it was on the news we switched over.

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 16 Feb 2012 23:20

Politics and diplomacy come into play in these sorts of cases too imho x

**edit* I 'd want to read the official point of view in conjunction with hers to attempt to iron out any discrepancies ...she will have a vested interest in putting her side across....and they'd be doing likewise.....those who shout very loudly often have the most to hide......so I'd prefer to read both and come to my own conclusions based on fact x

Rambling

Rambling Report 16 Feb 2012 23:19

I'd rather write it myself and know my 'feelings' were portrayed accurately than have it written by someone who would 'put words in my mouth' ...again assuming innocence.. if guilty I wouldn't risk it. I think people will read it to see if she 'sounds' guilty, much like (I suspect) many may have read Kate McCann's accounts..??

Muffyxx

Muffyxx Report 16 Feb 2012 23:13

I think I probably would.

If I'm being totally honest.

Though I can't think who would actually bother to read it....because it's not likely to differ from whatever she said in court lol...so I'd be best off reading police reports or court minutes........

Rambling

Rambling Report 16 Feb 2012 23:09

but.....if it were me, having been locked up for 4 years, would I use the opportunity to make money as 'recompense'...(assuming innocence of course) and knowing that inevitably a book would be written by someone else if not me?
