when i first come on here i was green as grass
and i made a few bad choiced i belived
what i thought were my friends said and boy was that a mistake
but now i am not as green and know they were sprouting compost
i have now found out who my true friend are
and if we disagree we disagree but we dont fall out
but if they were attacked unjustly i would defend them

i think we are somtimes "blinded" by friendship,
sadly, i know i have been, but iv seen for myslef in some cases people i thought were fab, really arnt

wolves in sheeps clothing :-(

but, on saying that i try not to judge others by people who have let me down, and i would tell friends if i thought they were wrong, or just not encourage them, depending on the situtaion,

and i really do belive the saying the lady does protest to much :-D :-D

aw n sue i think ya terribly grumpy, but i wouldnt have you any other way mwahhh <3 <3 <3

Because she has put it so well and because I agree with every word can I just say ditto Gwynne (except I have size 5s)

And Suzanne I think what Sylvia was trying to say was, no matter how perceptive you are, no matter how intelligent, this is a whole different world to the real world. You can trust people to be how they are by instinct and, fortunately, 99% of the time you are right. But those of us who have been on the boards since they began have seen several instances of people who for a long time seemed like true friends only to 'turn' at some stage and reveal that they are not what they seem. Sylvia was just being a friend and advising caution. Of course if you have met the people at meets etc that is different, much easier to work out what somebody is like in the flesh so to speak.

And Sue's crutch really is super. :-D

I'm so old and have been on GR so long that a lot of the friends I made on the site are no longer members. I'm still in touch with and see a lot of them and still regard them as friends.

Some are still here and they talk such eminent sense that I've never had to think about defending the indefensible. ;-)

In the past when wars broke out (which used to be a regular occurence in the bad old days) if I thought a friend was ranting from the wrong orifice I've told them so privately and ignored their posts on the board. However, when a friend was "under attack" or anyone else being got at unjustifiably I have been known to step in in my dainty size 6s.

But I would never publicly defend a friend who I thought was totally in the wrong - neither in real life nor on a forum. A true friend is honest with you.

Sometimes I support people that I wouldn't necessarily call friends or even someone that I have close affinity too. I may not even agree with what they're saying.

However, sometimes i just think people need defending or at least a chance.

ah Sue I think we may be thinking about different events there

:-D

Suzanne,I have friends on here who share interests and/or that I like enormously because of the way they are always 'themselves', in private and in public, what you see is what you get

But for all that, there is no one on here, or actually among my friends in 'real life' that I would now spill my heart out to completely, been there got the knife wound lol. :-D

Your situation our Rose wasn't pleasant. i have been lucky because I have made some wonderful friends on here, but you know I'm careful about revealing too much.

Suzanne, follow your instincts but if someone starts sharpening their knife you'll hear the noise from a distance :-D

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 29 Jan 2012 23:01

who do you count as friends rose and why?have you ever met your friends?
im not a stupid person and i do take into account that i dont really know these people, but i still really like a few of them since talking privately over PMs.these people i call friends talk and debate in an intelligent way,and give sound advice, that in my book is a good thing.x

Rambling

Rambling Report 29 Jan 2012 22:52

Suzanne, I have to agree with Sylvia, though I count many people on here as friends, and have always thought that way, hard experience has made me very wary :-( I give much less away than I used to, which was everything lol.
