it's a friend?

I cannot understand how a true friend lets someone get away with spouting utter rubbish and asking them to stand up for them when it's patently obvious the smallest violin is being dug out of the cupboard.

On the rare occasions I have opened mouth before engaging brain my friends have slapped my wrist or gagged me. I am particularly thinking of our Rose (RR) plus all the GR members who know how I rock

:-D

Also my name is Supercrutch NOT crutch or the crutch woman, close friends of course can address me as the crip :-D :-D

I think in the past I did support the indefensible yes...out of misplaced loyalty. mabye?..but now I'm older and bit more hardened to it all I'm less likely just to let things float by...I tend to say what I think and to hell with it.

Whether this is a good thing or not I know not..but my BS monitor sure appreciates my honesty these days if no one else does lololololol.

I give TW the credit for pulling me back at times.......and leaving me to it at times when she knew there was no hope lol x

I true friend would do what they can to stop you making a total idiot of yourself to be honest, and if they don't like that, they're not worth your friendship anyway.

There was a thing going round FB, which said something along the lines of ' A friend gets upset when you've been insulted...a true friend walks beside you with a baseball bat saying 'someone's gonna get it,'

Ok that's extreme but it does sort of spell out what I'm trying to say.

I know that I'll get a phone call or text saying 'Whoaaaa' Daff wearing her Mrs. Sensible hat was brilliant for that but when she agreed she went in with both feet...lolol

I got my wrist slapped a wk or so ago by Sylvia in canada for saying you were all my friends because we all thought alike, she said something along the lines of "beware who you call your friends on this site, they are all cyber friends and you do not know them or the kind of people they are)
well sylvia, although ive never met my friends on here,i sure know they will be behind me ,even if they dont agree with my sometimes controversial threads, they will give support.thats friends in my book. :-D :-D

Hello :-D

I wouldn't like to think I have ever supported the "indefensible", I hope not, maybe defended the outright stupid at times lol...

I do try hard to 'balance' an argument ( LOL not easy when you're a Saggi with Libra rising ...those scales of justice tip around all over the shop!) and give the benefit of the doubt if I have some inkling of why someone is over-reacting ...like we all do when we've 'lost it'. I do understand that sometimes things are said out of temper especially if one is defending something one is passionate about .

Second entirely the wish that Daff was still here with her calming comments :) I have lost all her PMs otherwise I would refer back to them when I need a bit more 'balance'!

Suzanne, I have to agree with Sylvia, though I count many people on here as friends, and have always thought that way, hard experience has made me very wary :-( I give much less away than I used to, which was everything lol.

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 29 Jan 2012 23:01

who do you count as friends rose and why?have you ever met your friends?
im not a stupid person and i do take into account that i dont really know these people, but i still really like a few of them since talking privately over PMs.these people i call friends talk and debate in an intelligent way,and give sound advice, that in my book is a good thing.x

supercrutch Report 29 Jan 2012 23:03

Your situation our Rose wasn't pleasant. i have been lucky because I have made some wonderful friends on here, but you know I'm careful about revealing too much.

Suzanne, follow your instincts but if someone starts sharpening their knife you'll hear the noise from a distance :-D

Suzanne

Suzanne Report 29 Jan 2012 23:06

supercrutch

supercrutch Report 29 Jan 2012 23:11

Rambling

Rambling Report 29 Jan 2012 23:16

ah Sue I think we may be thinking about different events there

:-D

Suzanne,I have friends on here who share interests and/or that I like enormously because of the way they are always 'themselves', in private and in public, what you see is what you get

But for all that, there is no one on here, or actually among my friends in 'real life' that I would now spill my heart out to completely, been there got the knife wound lol. :-D

Sometimes I support people that I wouldn't necessarily call friends or even someone that I have close affinity too. I may not even agree with what they're saying.

However, sometimes i just think people need defending or at least a chance.
