worse hosp i went to was a hosp in leatherhead surrey. my brother got knocked over..hit and run...broke his leg ..the bone shot out the side of his calf muscle(maybe thats why he tore his achilles tendon because his muscles weak) broke his shoulder and nose..they had to bootlace his calf muscle up..ugh..it was a right mess! his artery burst in his leg..moments before that he tried shouting for the nurse..im afraid to say they didnt speak very good English...he ended up throwing a glass in the coridor..before he passed out..he ended up in intensive care..they had to shove wires into his heart because they were loosing him he had ops on his leg six times...luckily he got better..until i fetched him back to deerbyshire to live with me for a while..the nurse came out the same evening my brother was crying in pain..now my brother is tough as ode boots....she removed his dressing..MY GOD HIS LEG SMELT RANCID..the nurse said its ok sometimes it does smell a little and can go black..er no!! took him to hosp and he had got M.R.S.A.... had to cut more muscle away...I took him to Q.M.C ...doc took one look and knew he had it...well back at general hosp they had his urine bottle next to his food plate..floor hadnt been cleaned..it was disgusting!! im all for bringing back matrons..you never heard of half the stuff you can catch now from hosp...my brother has a rod in his leg now..has also got foot drop where he cant lift his foot up..but hes learnt to walk :-D got a limp..sadly the bolt has moved too near his knee cap and the poor bugger darn't go back hosp incase he gets something else..who can blame him eh...said he wants to live a little longer..hes 40 bless him xx

Oh Psalms, after all that, I hope your brother got the right treatment. LOL
Yes, the Royal Derby is nice, it should be, it cost over £350 million to build. That is until you are a patient, and have to eat the food. I would not feed it to my dog. Not a bit of fresh food in sight. I've never had a fresh egg, let alone any bacon.
I have got wise the the 'menu' by now, and the last time I was in, I existed on porridge, soup and cheese and biscuits. Even the porridge is Ready Brek.
I do not know what passes for a chef these days, but they are certainly not employed there LOLOL

omg..i got lost trying to get there
(theres a story here Julia lol....we were walking our lab across the fields last year..it was starting to get a little darl so we started to make our way back through the wheat fields..my brother yelped..fell on the floor and said he had been shot in the calf!! im now panicking thinking the farmers got peed off with people walking in his field..so i ducked on the floor screamed omg what we going to do..i bent over my dog protecting her from the farmers gun.....when my brother decided he hadnt been shot ..but thinks he was bit by a sanke instead!! by this time im hystericagot my mobile phone light on the floor trying to see if the snakes coming for me next pmsl!! any way after a while he said it felt more like a sanp in his muscle..as you may have guessed he had torn his achilles tendon!! i had to phone my hubby to bring the car and meet us..i then said i would take him to D.R.I yep gets there and they said we had to go to derby royal instead..well im a panicky person anyway..due to my brother bout giving me bloody heart failiure..made it there an hour later after getting lost in derby.. heading god knows where ..but thank God for the coffee and chocolate machines there!! :)

Thank you Psalms. I am so much a regular up the Derby Royal, that I get invited to all the parties etc, and the Christmas Doos.LOL
After all, I've had two of the last three Christmas's up in there

Hello again Fiona, thanks for coming back to me. You are going to laugh or cry by the time you read this, so I'll start at the beginning. Hold on to your hat.
I was always a very small 'sickly' child, but nothing really untowards, though I had my appendix out aged eight.
Almost six years ago, I was suddenly attacked by this tremendous pain across my middle region. The OH, who was painting the kitchen ceiling at the time !!!!, took me to the outpatients at a local hospital about 4 miles away. After waiting what seemed a life time, I saw a doctor, who thought it was (for some unknown reason), peritonitis. He ordered an ambulance to take me up to the big city hospital, as they could not deal with me there.
I was diagnosed as possible Gall Bladder problems.
For the next 2 1/2 years I was in and out of there every 3/4 months with extreme stomach pains. Eventually after that time, I had my Gall Bladder out, I think. Maybe it was just the Gall Stones, as I have never been able to get to the bottom of it.
Just after two weeks at home, I was back in hospital, with the same problem. And to cut a long story short, they were baffled as to what was causing the pains. I have had every scan possible and an Ultrasound.
About this time last year, they decided it was ' Sphinture of Oddi Disfunction', and by then, I was in and out of the hospital every few weeks. My longest period at home throughout all of this, has been about 9 weeks.
During June,this year, I had a Botox injection into this gland, which is actually the bile duct, which can cease to function properly after a Gall Bladder job. A few days later, I was back in hospital again, and I would go through a process of say, 3/4 days at home, and then 3/4 days in hospital.
This carried on all this summer..
I was at the clinic of my consultant about 10 days ago, and the latest theory is:-
1, the Botox injection missed the bile duct.
2. there is something being obstructed by other body parts.
3. the Gall Bladder was not dealt with properly, originally.

The outcome is, that I have yet again to have a MRCP scan, and a liver function test.
I have to say that, I am on a daily dosage of pain killers, to 'get ontop of the pain' as it is described. Also, if the pain starts, I start to dose myself with oral Morphine. When, going through the day, and having taken two doses of the Morphine, and the pain is getting no better, I know it is time to call for an ambulance, so they can give me IV Morphine, and then take me into hospital, for more Morphine.
The ambulance HQ, are so used to me ringing them, that I only have to say my name, and describe the pain, which is well over the benchmark of 10, and a crew is despatched with the Morphine, and Entinox ,on board. They know me so well.
It has to be said that my hospital bags, have been packed, and at hand, for 6 years, this coming Easter. I so wash the nighties worn when in the hospital, and re pack them, to be at the ready.
When I am in hospital, all they do is get the pain under control, with loads of Morphine, and send me home after 3/4 days, but I have stayed for as many as 6 days.
The last time I went, only the other week, I had chest pains, which gave cause for concern, and I was taken into Rescus.before being moved on. When I had had the original op. I had a heart attack, so any signs of chest pains, gives cause for alarm. Also I am type 2 diabetic.
To say I am fed up with it all, is an understatement. Maybe it is our hospital, I don't know, but I have met other women suffering with the disfucntion, something they do not understand when admitted to A & E. I have to have a chest x-ray every time, to see if anything has burst.
I am now under a Professor, who is supposed to be the world's top expert in this field.
If I want to go out, shopping etc, I have to wait a while in the morning to see how much daily pain I am in. I never leave home without a bottle of Morphine, and a mobile phone to ring for an ambulance.
It certainly did NOT, make a new woman of me, though I did lose 3 1/2 stone, and have put back on a stone. My legs, when I looked down at them, looked like those of a little girl, and though I am only 5', the weight loss was giving the OH some worries. At times, I also have a yellow tinge to my face.
So, laugh or cry. I have to laugh, if I didn't, I certainly would bleddy well cry.

No Problem, don't mind discussing it at all.
Firstly I had my Gallbladder out on the 2nd November (it will be 5 weeks this WED since operation,
anyway, My husband says as long as we have been married which is 32 years he has always seen me taking Gavis*on or some other form of indigestion relief, never eat pastry or fatty foods as long as I can remember, about 5 years ago I went to hospital for an ultra-scan (for another problem) during this test they told me I had gallstones, at that time no other action was taken as I was having no problems with them. For the last 2 years I have had Helicobacter infection on and off and then in this May I seem to be taking Gavis*con more often than usual, went to see the doctor and told him I was having a lot of heartburn and acid, then in June after my daughters Graduation I was really bad with pain and nausea, I put myself on a low fat diet, , I went back to doctor told him my symptoms, and he referred me to the NHS hospital but it was going to take 12 weeks before an appointment , so we decided to go private that was at the end of August after lots of different tests they said it was Gallstones, so that was that into hospital , had the Gallbladder out and have never regretted it,
ok it takes a few weeks to be able to get back to being properly mobile and eating normally , I still get very tired, but am told that it take a while to get my strength back. and I have lost weight
but I am now able to look forward to Christmas and eating all the goodies and putting some weight back on,

I am only 4' 11"and normally weigh seven and a half stone, but have gone down to 6 stone 5ibs

Julia If that’s your problem I would seriously consider the operation it will make a new woman of you, anyway the pain you have with Gallstones is awful,

OH YES- BY THE WAY I HAVE NEVER TOUCHED THE GAVIS*ON BOTTLE SINCE THE OPERATION

FIONA, I read that you had your Gall Bladder out in May, and I am glad to see that you are doing well.
Would you please be kind enough to tell me how and when you first started with this problem

hope your surgery goes ok. I just had my gallblader out 5 weeks ago and am recovering fine, had my first glass of wine tonight with my dinner ,havent had any alchol since I took bad in May.

I'm down in Hamilton,South Lanarkshire, Scotland, we had several snow showers today, Hope it doesn't lie as we are suppose to get the builders coming tomorrow to take down our old porch and lay new the foundations before Christmas, then come back and build a new brick porch in the New Year,

Keeping fingers crossed they get the work done, as it was suppose to be started in October but we had a lot of changes to the plans, might be lucky yet, who knows

Hope it stays in Scotland & doesn't travel "over the border". I'm due spinal surgery on 15th but if bad weather hits & people keep falling over in the snow & ice, breaking their hips, my surgery will be cancelled.
I've already got my snow grippers to go on my shoes.
To quote one of my all time favourite tv programmes "let's be careful out there"......
