I would appreciate any help, I have been talking about this with my step father in law and he seems very interested as he know nothing about his family, not even his grandparents names!!

I'm sorry I don't have much info. I'm trying to research my step father in laws side of the family with the name of Orgee. (!!) He doesnt know anything of his family at all. I thought it would be an easy name to research but I am stuck after his father and if I can get past this point I know it will be easy. His name was Albert Orgee born 1912 and his wife was an Anita Hutchings. Not sure if this was her given name. There are lots of Orgees in Worcestershire and this is where Albert was born, and I know he had 3 brothers and 3 sisters but don't know anything about them.

Sorry but I have no more info!

Goodness Sarah,

Thats a hard one. I have found in looking through my Family tree that peoples names often bore no resemblance to the names that are on their bith certificates.

I had a great Aunt lal who I thought would have had a birth name of Elizabeth. I have since discovered her name was Jenny!

She was not the only one in my family :-S

Sometimes the only way to find out is to end for a copy of the birth cert, It may shed some light when linked to the rest of your tree.

There may be "pet names" for Mable, try and google some Name sites. It might shed some light.

My Mums middle name was Mable and she hated it. Maybe Anita called herself Anita for the same reasons.

Good Luck

Teresa :-)

Hello Sarah

If the person in question in not living, perhaps you can elaborate as to when and where she was born..............and any other information you have about her?

I am at a point in my tree where no members of the family can help and I'm stuck! If someone is born with the name of Mabel, does anyone know of any names they maybe called instead of? I know sometimes there are different names or a name gets shortened. This particular person was known as Anita, but I can't find an Anita..only a Mabel??

Thanks in advance

Sarah
