I understand what you are saying there Lavender, as my middle child was also a cot death victim. I coped with my next child, a daughter, only with the help of monitors and lots of support.
Now she has a daughter age 14 weeks, and yesterday I had her for the whole day. I cannot tell you how anxious I was - maybe neurotic is a better word. I enjoyed the day though very much, and will be having her one day a week until daughter goes back to work and then more often.
Neither my daughter or my granddaughter could heal the pain of the loss, but they have put joy and love into my life in a way that I never thought possible.

I was 21 when I had my first child and 50 when I had our first granddaughters. What overwhelming joy it was. I can honestly say that when I walked into the hospital and saw their parents cradling a tiny baby each in their arms it was the most wonderful moment in the whole of my life and I continue to be overjoyed by their existence. Having lost our own small child to cot death our joy was all the more intense and emotional. It was like being given a grandchild and one little extra one to make up for all our suffering. There really is a God!

oh sally, you were just ababy when you became a granny,and how i envy you,because i had wait until i was 45.you may think me a bit sad,but when you nurse dying children every day,its so niceto come home to happy,healthy,smiling faces.x <3

hi i was married at sixteen first child born at 17 second at 19 third 21. became a gran at 39 and at 63 i now have 3 greatgranchildren.
we live near the sea so now their mothers bring them down for summer holidays
its great keeps me young running in and out of the sea seeing them laughing .... at a daft nanny who dont like cold water.....christine (sally mum)

I'm 64 got 7 grankids the eldest is 21 ,I'm not his grand-dad I'm his mate and I feel great about that

Married at eighteen, had first daughter at nineteen
second daughter at twenty
third daughter at twenty seven
first became a nan at 39 have now got 9 grandchildren but still waiting to become a g nana. :-) :-)

my daughter is getting married next yr to theresa.
already getting invatations,looking at dresses,deciding on the colour of suits.andbooked reception(that mum and dadarepaying for)what ashock wegot at the cost.ha ha.x

Im still waiting too but am happy to wait for them!

I had my eldest at 17, next at 19, next at 20, next at 22 next at 26 and last at 33... I am now 40 and they are gradually getting older.... The only hope is the 20y who is getting married in a years time........ Althoguh maybe I might get a surprise!

when im out with my grandchildren im always asked if they are mine,people are either being polite or they need glasses.x

My mother became a great gran at 72, my gran became a great great gran at 98. Sadly she died at 99, but we have a photo of the five generations, with my eldest grandchild aged 3 months, sat on her lap.

My Mum married when she was 21, had her first child when she was 24 had her last (me) when she 34. Had her first grandchild when she was 54 and if all goes as it should her first great grandchild is due in March. If it is before the 7 she will be 82, after 83

I was 24 when I had my first daughter, she was 22 when she had her first baby - so I was 46 when I became a granny! I was well chuffed- I'm the(much) youngest of 4 - and I was the first to become a grandparent - and we were well past teenage years (daughter & I) when we had babies!!

I now have 3 grandchildren - and a great niece who calls me 'granny' (my sister is her 'grandma') - and one of my grandsons calls my sister 'grandma' (the other isn't talking yet!). Great niece has a 3 week old brother now, so I may have 3 grandchildren, but am 'granny' to 5!!! :-D

I became a Nan at 35yrs, then went on to have two more children myself.

So they where both Aunties when they where born. I had my eldest at 17yrs, and my youngest at 41yrs. I have 4 Daughters.

I was my mums youngest she had me at 41yrs also.

I have 5 Grandchildren, 2 Handsome Grandsons, & 3 Beautiful Granddaughters. The oldest 15yrs and the youngest 3yrs.

what lovely stories.im so made up to be a grandmother of two at the age of 47,didnt think it wasever going to happen,my grandchildren bring me so much happiness.hope yours bring you as much joy as mine bring me.x :-D

makes me feel ancient!!

funny old world isn,t it LadyAgusta ,my youngest brother was born a month apart from our eldest brothers child ( his uncle) they were like twins.

I was married at 18 and had my first at 20 then second at 24 but was not a Nana until 54 :-)
I now can understand why my Mum was shocked to be a Grandmother at 41 :-)

Had my first child at 17, second at 20. My first, and only, grandchild was born when I was 38. He is now 23, but is not yet ready for any children of his own so I don't think I will be a great nan for a while yet and daughter, who is 42, said she doesn't want to ever be a grandmother. If and when it happens, I know she will be over the moon as I was when my grandson was born.

Had my first child at 21 and first grandchild at 48, now got 5 Grandchildren and am 71, eldest grandchild getting married next yesr all being well.

had my second son when i was 20yrs old. first one was still born .
i became a nanny in jan 1988 when i was 45 , my g/granddaughter was born last August she is a yr old today lol , then have another g/grandchild to be born in Jan 2012.
I have 8 grandchildren in all .

l was 57 when granddaughter was born and 58 when grandson was born. l'm now 62 so wont be having great g children just yet!!!...lol
