Merlin, I think he's got to big a stake in the UK to get rid of all of it to be honest. After all, where else is he going to be allowed to own such a high percentage of the overall news industry in one country?

But I do see the foundations of his empire crumbling somewhat...James's inheritance may not be as large as first thought.

My last place had a window cleaner, but the general maintenance was paid for within the rent, (that is cleaning the stairs, the windows and keeping the communal gardens tidy)

£15, that's daylight robbery, or it would be if you didn't clean them!

*chops another 18 inches off Rose's soapbox* :-P

Quick PS lol , I don't pay the window cleaner lol, he came round touting for work, and 'offered' to do mine for £15 ...thats 6 small windows...where I was before it was part of my rental agreement to have the window cleaner, but he only charged £6 for twice as many ( larger) windows. :-0

The word is that he may dispose of all his Newspaper holing in the UK. but who will buy them? however now that she has gone I wonder how much severance pay she will get for carrying the can.? :-S

*shortens Rose's soap box*

I agree with that in all Rose, there doesn't seem to be that much integrity throughout society, and the feeble excuse that 'everyone else does it' really doesn't make it right. I'm no do-gooder, but come on, we all know right from wrong and make those choices.

Pay a window cleaner :-0 <<that's shock apparently! Never, bucket of water, tiny dash of fairy liquid and a splash of white vinegar, wash them down and dry with newspaper, don't do it in the Sun..it will smear.

Which brings me nicely back to topic...will the Sun, a so-called newspaper I personally despise, be dragged through this too, will there be revelations about journalistic practises there. Let's hope so, then Murdoch might close that one too.

Possibly Hacking Rose, with some it should have been with a Machette. :-S

I am glad she has gone, should have gone straight away...

I am having a general rant this week about the importance of 'integrity' as a concept to live by, one which seems to be dying on its feet, not just in the press. I am sick of people who scam, or constantly try to justify bad behaviour ( or inefficiency generally) by saying 'everyone does it'. Sick of career politicians who have no passion except to have an easy life and a wealthy retirement.

Even on a very local level, the window cleaner and the fencing chap who set the price out of all proportion to the job!

( lol what was the topic again ;-) )

I'd heard it said before that she had been hacked too....shame eh?

According to another tabloid today she was complaining that she herself was being hacked whilst married to Ross Kemp the actor. Bit different to being bereaved through murder/war/terrorist attacks.

I'm looking forward to Tuesday when all three of them will be questioned by the select committee... ;-)

So Rebeccah Brooks has resigned as chief executive at NI. I think its too little too late, she should have gone last week BEFORE the closure of a successful newspaper (not that I ever bought the rag), or better still, when the phone hacking scandals first broke years ago.

Whatever her involvement was, either she DID know what was going on when she was editor of New of the World, therefore she was complicit, or she DIDN'T know, therefore she was not doing her job properly. Either way, her resignation is long overdue in my opinion, whether or not she is now a scapegoat for the whole thing.

I think this has more to do with not just revelations of phone hacking, and the subsequent inquiries in the UK, but the fact that the FBI are now looking into the practises of Murdoch's newspapers due to rumours that journalists MAY have hacked the phones of the families of the 9/11 victims.

What next I wonder?
