oh joeva,
i think you mis-understood my thread, people i deal with have got real health issues, but they order stuff that they think they need but dont,so these things are left in houses incase they may be needed(they are never needed)as for drugs, ill people are given repeat prescriptions, they think they have to take them to the dr every month(even though they dont need to get them)ive been to houses where they have larder cupboards in the bedroom full of drugs(im not lying )most of them out of date, what a strain on he n,h,s and a terrible waste of money.xx :-S

believe me joeva i have tried(im a nurse and have seen first hand the abuse of the system) you report it and all you are told is "these people have the right to order what they want"wether they use it or not,the managers in the n,h,s know about the abuse and waste going on in the n,h,s, but do they care?of course not,as long as they are getting their big money for doing nothing, they dont see any problems, people are suffering and it needs to stop! give me a managers job and pay and i will stop it lol.x :-S :-S

Reading this thread has sickened me.

It is no consolation to Dizzi to read that there are people getting so much help for non -existent health issues and that she has to struggle to get the help that she so rightly deserves.

I cannot believe there are people that know of these cheats and stand back and do nothing.

I think you need to be a bit creative and tell them you have to be carried upstairs since their last visit,
How about a lift that goes straight up through the ceiling ? Doesn't block the stairs for the rest of the family .?
Whenever you fill in a form make sure it's about your worst days, tell them what you can't do, not what you can :-D

Thank you for your comment Suzanne.
Maybe its about time people should fight back .
Dizzi - why not ask the person to revisit and tell them that the interview will be vidoed. Ask your neighbours give reference to your problem .

i agree with you big about the abuse of the system.here in wales its on a very large scale, wheelchairs, hoists, special mattresses and beds costing thou of pounds are just left in peoples homes unused.and dont start me off about the stockpile of medications, pads, sterile syringes.none of this stuff can be sent back iven though it may not have been used,it just all goes into the bin.terrible waste of money.x :-(

Maybe you should just start on your bum Gwen - maybe try sitting on a tray for a rapid descent!! :-S
It's ridiculous, 'they' want people to stay in their own homes for as long as possible, yet seem reluctant to help.
The cost of a stairlift wouldn't keep a person in a home for a month, so if, by providing one, a person could comfortably stay in their own home for 10 years - look at the savings!!!

When my OH was researching the possibilities of of stair lifts after I had a bad accident he was told that it is possible to rent them. I can get upstairs (on all fours!) now and get down as long as I have a hand free for the banisters so we never researched any further - but do ask, local occupational therapists should know.,

This is so wrong. I know a person who has a stair lift that he is happy to tell people he does not need and has never used!"!! My husband says they should wiegh this person and check the millage because it has never been used and it is state paid for. He is, I am sad to say dedicated scrounger who thinks its funny to take what could be used elsewhere.

I am very sorry that people with a real need are deprived because of the abuse of the system by others such as him.

I COULD HAVE A BED DOWN STAIRS BUT
ONLY KITCHEN LOUNGE/DINNER MEANS EVERYONE
WOULD USE IT AS A SOFA BECAUSE WE WOULD HAVE TO GET
RID OF ALL OTHER FURNITURE TO GET ONE IN

NO THANK YOU

What you need Gwen is an Stair lift. My BIL finally accepted he needed help getting up and down the stairs when he found that once he came down in the morning then that was it Needing the loo up in the bathroom during the day was hell and several times he didnt make it. My SIL finally compromised by providing a bucket for him to pee in but it wasnt ideal .
Unfortunately the doctor didnt want to know and they have had to pay privately to get the stair lift put in,
At least now when he needs to go, he can get to the loo in time

I HAD THE REHAB NURSES COME ROUND LAST WEEK TO SEE IF THES ANYTHING THEY CAN HELP ME WITH,
THE ONE THING I WANTED WOULD BE ABLE TO GO UPSTAIRS ITS NOT THE GETTING UP THERE I TOLD THEM
"ITS THE FALLING DOWN THEM IM NOT TO KEEN ON"

SO SHE SAID IF WE WALK UP AND DOWN WITH YOU THAT WILL MAKE IT BETTER
"EXCUSE
ME DONT QUITE GRASP THAT"

IT WILL GIVE YOU MORE CONFIDENCE
"YEH TO FALL DOWN"
ITS NOT THE CONFIDENCE ITS THE FACT MY LEGS DONT ALWAYS WORK,ITS ALLRIGHT TO SAY IF SOMEONES HERE THEY CAN HELP,BUT NEEDING THE LOO WHICH IS DOWN STAIRS AT 2am GOES WELL TO MAKING ONE VERY POPULAR,THEN AGAIN TWO HOURS LATER,,,DONT LEAVE MUCH TO SEE THAT I WOULDNT BE HELPED AGAIN THAT NIGHT!!!

TRYING OT EXPLAIN TO SOMEONE WHO IS ADIMENT THAT WALKING UP AND DOWN WITH HER GIVING INSTRUCTIONS WAS FUTILE TILL SHE GOT TO MY STAIRS WHICH ARE VERY STEEP WITH SHORT STEP SPACE,

SHE MADE IT UP FIVE STEPS AND SAID MMM MAYBE DO THIS ANOTHER TIME,

HEARD HER SAY TO OTHER NURSE
"HERE FLIPPIN STEEP"
MESSAGE MAY HAVE GOT THROU

TILL THE NEXT TIME
