I miss not being about to run, climb stairs and get in and out of a bath, long country walks and camping...

Chris - my family would be happy with an imperfect cake - they've never known me to make perfect flowers of sugar or anything else. LOL So keep on baking, I figure that an imperfect cake (my specialty) still blesses those who get to eat the goodies,

Hi Chris ,
i miss going for a walk, i try to do gardening but can only do a little bit
I do knitt but it takes me ages & ages to finish any thing as even knitting gets me out of breathe.
But i'm still alive & still breathing lol

Getting out and about more. Walking for longer periods than now which, if I could, would broaden my horizons. Hopefully this won't be a permanent state. Otherwise, not much else. I have replaced the knitting with reading more or doing my tree and chatting on genes.

Shame about those lovely cakes Chris - maybe you can pass your skills on to the next generation.

Regards

Vera

I miss knitting, walking, playing ball games with the grandkids, and funnily enough being able to do my housework without pain. Have had RA for 30 years which has got progressively worse. But hey ho I am alive and the sun is shinning.

I miss energy - nowadays I just suddenly come to a full stop, whereas before I tired gradually. Need help opening tins and bottles, can't squeeze my eye-drop bottle myself. Constantly drop things. Still trying to knit because I love it, but endurance is gone. Keep on gardening but with much less perfection than previously. Keep on baking because we need to eat and the aroma is good for my mental health LOL
Who was the originator of the phrase "the golden years"? Methinks they hadn't experienced aging yet. With all the stresses of current life it is not a chance to sit and savor wonderful stress-free living. It's just stress in a new form, with physical limitations making enjoyable activities unattainable.
No more complaints from me, it's just the way it is, now to keep plugging along. Find humour and pleasure in rotten situations, smile because it takes less muscle action than frowning!!
Mary :-)

Almost everything that I used to mfind enjoyable. Was so active and now regret not taking more care. About the only thing I do now is pontificate!! Can just about do the unintersting things, like H-------rk and internet shopping. start off well but soon worn out. Those who can do all they want, make the most of life as the ability stops very suddenly. :-(

fortunately not missing too much yet although hill walking is not an option these days and I can't do quite such long stints in the garden. Can still do flattish walking though up to about 5 miles and other things have taken the place of gardening. (I still get to do the planning stage). such as scrap booking and card making. Fortunately photography is not a problem so far.

I gave up riding about 10 years ago due to my knees and our sheep went two years ago when our health and other commitments meant keeping them was no longer feasible. We still have the bottles for bottle feeding the tiddlers, I really must clear them out. Happily our neighbour brings hers round which has been almost as enjoyable without all the problems.

However the thing I really miss is knitting. I am asthmatic and the fibres start me coughing unless I am outside. I used to knit arans, shawls etc and it really relieved stress in the long winter nights. My husband is relieved as he doesn't really like wearing them!! The arans not the shawls!

I am trying to avoid retirement at the moment by moving to a three day week, but really enjoy the time I spent at work so will be sad when it finishes.

I couldn't possibly comment on this query in an open form like this. WikiLeaks would have a field-day at my embarrassment.

what do you really miss being able to do?

For myself, gardening but most of all baking and top of that making and designing cakes for all occasions from christenings up to weddings.

Sugar flowers/modelling/smocking/cocoa painting/ to name but a few of the varieties in sugarcraft.

Have now got to stop kidding myself and get rid of all the equipment - cupboards/drawers and boxes full!
