I used to teach a reception class, and I'll never forget the little boy who came and stood by my desk, and looked down at himself, and then said, with surprise "Miss, I'm leaking!"

And the other little boy whose speech wasn't very clear who told us at news time about helping his dad in the garden at the weekend with some sort of tree. We couldn't work out for ages what this tree was - but it turned out to be a conservatory!

I cannot remember any particular thing that my chilren said BUt I do remember this.
My children wnet to strict Catholic schools and when the elsdest, 40 this years was about six the class were asked to darw a picture about their week end.
When I saw him coming out of school he was accompanied by his form teacher. I wondered what he had done.
As she approched I noted a twinkle in her eye and she held a piece of paper in her hand. Her opening words were "Well Mrs M.....oy you and your husband had a very relaxed weekend", I wondered what she meant...."I thought you would like this picture" she said, almost laughing and she gave me a picture of my husband and I in bed, on my side there was a botte with the GIN and on my husbands side one with a bottle labbelled Whiskey"
!!
I was dumstruck !!!
I still have this picture!!!

Recently my daughter was asking her 3 yr old about her facial features. What's this for, pointing to her mouth. Talking, she said. And these, pointing to her eyes and then ears. Looking and listening, she said. And this, pointing to her nose. It's for picking bogies, she said.

Charming!!

When I tell my little ones that I went to school they don't believe me. They also don't believe that I'm their mum's mother although the 7 y.o. now understands.

Maggie - my 4 y.o. grandson is fully into 'toilet' humour. He screams with laughter if he 'fluffs' and finds that word the funniest one in his vocabulary. He also says 'pull my finger' and when you do he burps. He finds that a lot funnier than his mum does:-))

I was watching the Grand Prix with my (then) 2 year old grandson.
We were sat on a leather sofa, and every time he moved, it made a 'parp'ing sound.
He realised the sound didn't come from him, so, logically, it came from me!!
He looked at me, and said 'Granny Trumped'!
I, of course denied it - son in law backed me up(well, what else could he do?!!)

......However, I'm still referred to, by the now 3 year old as 'Granny Trump'!!!

.......his 9 year old sister doesn't help, by going into paroxysms of laughter....,
.....and she wants to stay with me over half term!!.......

We learn so much by listening to their little conversations - we especially learn about ourselves. My daughter often says she can hear herself in her daughter.
