Chris, hopefully she will be looked after at Whipsnade and enjoy her retirement. Poor old girl deserves it.

I'm a softy with animals too. Even as a kid watching old cowboy films etc, I was more concerned about the horses than the cowboys and indians lol.
I love to hear about people who have been gored in bull runs/fights etc....come on the bulls lol

Marion that sounds good to me.
I love all animals and have always had a soft spot for elephants. She may not be part of the act anymore but she should still have been treated with the respect and dignity due to her.
I'm not surprised he did a runner. Hope he gets caught and soon.

Rose I bet there are a lot of hungry animals out there who could do with him..lol.

I didnt look at the video but I read a bit about it.
I thought what shame a poor old lady that should be being looked after well.

I cannot understand why anyone would want to hurt her, or any animal.
I hope they find whoever did it and punish him, I am like you Catherine, the footage also made me feel sick

I saw this elephant about 8 years ago, the circus was largely 'human', with some horses, she appeared at the end but was not part of the show as such, children were allowed to have their photo's taken by her. It was explained then that she was old and arthritic and she looked it.

I think it's possible that the circus owner is genuinely fond of her, but that doesn't excuse them from negligence in employing such a ********** ! and in not noticing that she was being ill treated.

They know who did it but he did a runner, they are trying to get her removed to a sanctuary asap after the vet has checked her out.**M**

I have just seen news footage of the appalling beating of Annie the last circus elephant in Britain.
It beggars belief how cruel this was and left me feeling sick.
I sincerely hope whoever is found to be responsible is severely punished in court and prevented from keeping or working with animals for life.
