I had my tonsils removed at the age of seventeen.....no problems at all apart from the kippers I was given as my first meal after surgery!!!
Tonsillitis used to be a twice yearly two week affair where I couldn't even swallow liquids without pain.
A sore throat now is a very rare occurrence, and have just realised that my operation was sixty years ago ...lol

You eat the crispy stuff afterwards to get rid of skanky skin, etc. It works.

Will have to speak to doc I think Kempina's daughter's experience doesn't sound great.

Interesting what you say about your sore throats coming back after having a child Potty, as this is pretty much what happened to me, didn't really suffer too badly in my 20s and 30s but the last couple of years have been really bad.

My dad was given cornflakes the morning after his were taken out!

Had mine out in my late twenties. Had awful sore throats as a child which did stop but came back after the birth of my first child.

Wasn't too bad but I do think the hospital could have managed to give us something other than mulligatawny soup for supper that night!

The frequent sore throats did stop and if I ever got one, the doctor called it pharyngitis instead of tonsilitus!

Anyone have experience of having tonsils out as an adult? Did it stop you getting bad throats? On third bout of tonsillitis now since Christmas and getting sick of it, wondering whether to have them taken out. Didn't get done when I was a child as wasn't "in fashion" then, doctors all said I would grow out of it. I assume that would have happened by now if it was going to as I am over 40!
