Other tree's may very well have some of the same family members as your tree..........but why would you want to copy and paste someone else's tree??? |

well, because it would save time, if im trying to add people to my tree, which is why we all joined! then why spend hours looking at there tree , who is your relative to add family members who you dont now about, it would save loads of time, if i was related to you and i had 50 people who you never knew about, wouldnt you want them on your tree if they are related to you? thats the point of having a tree isnt it? ??????????????? |

because i had a tree match and the person sent me a photo of my great great grandfather through the post, his dad was cousins with my grandad and i had a photo of them together that my uncle gave me, so i emailed it to him, anyway, bit of a story for you there! its just taking me ages to add people, ive only got up to 105 now, and ive been on here since just after xmas, so i was wondering how he got 83000! in his tree, thats either some serious man hours or he has copied someones tree? thats why i asked if thats people was doing on here, and why are people hiding there names in there trees? i dont get that, do you know why they do that? |

Trust me on this one Adrian......when i first started out building my family tree, i added lots of information from other people's tree's who were connected to my family............2 and 3 yrs further down the line, i realised that some of the information i had willy nilly added to my tree, without confirming the information for myself..........was all wrong and i had to delete lots of information from my tree and start all over again!! |

i joined to trace my family tree, so if i find someone who is related to me do i then not add my other members of my family because i didnt find them first? we all need help with our tree surely? if i was related to you and you saw my tree, i wouldnt mind you adding me because you would be a family member, thats why we all decided to join and make a tree isnt it? to add family to our trees, after all its just a hoby. |

I have a tree ,sent to me, which has my grandfather on it....... 100s if not thousands of names built up over a lifetime by a dedicated and careful researcher..... but the tree was still 'wrong' as were all those who had copied it , in that he couldn't 'know' what I knew ie my birth to the son of my grandfather...the son ( one of four) who 'didn't exist' unless one knew of the second marriage (virtually untraceable) of said grandfather. |
