Cheers, ladies!

On another note, have I told you about the time I stole a two finger KitKat?

Which I did.

My conscience got the better of me before I could eat it, so I hid it under my pillow.

Wrong move. It melted.

My dad had a friend in the police force, and they used to go out for a couple of pints every Thursday night.

Lying on my bed (protecting the melted kitkat from any attempts on behalf of my mother to change the sheets) I heard said PC walking to the front door.

I was pretty sure he knew about this theft. But no - off they went to the pub.

Breathing a sigh of relief, I went to the loo.

Another wrong move. Mum came upstairs to change the bed.....

I was summarily taken down to the shop the next morning to confess, pay up and donate my pocket money to the church collection for weeks to come.

If I could have my time again, I would have bought the thing the first time around. It would have been cheaper and saved so much trouble!

They say actions speak louder than words but after my dad died my mother showed me a letter that my dad had written years ago telling us where all their important papers were should something happen on their first big trip overseas. After all the practical stuff my father wrote a few lines about how he felt about each of us and it was beautiful. I knew he loved us but I didn't realise how much. I also read a letter he wrote to my mother after I was born. He was so excited to have a little girl.

Aw, Sue, don't feel ashamed. I'm sure most of us have said things in the past that we regret - I know I have. Your Nanna would've understood and she knew how much you really loved her. x

Wow! Suemaid.......My thoughts exactly about my own....probably different circumstances but the thoughts are the same.

Sue - I can only imagine how you felt but your Nanna would've understood. You were a child and children can be so thoughtless and cruel.

.....Sheesh!....been there and done that Suzian.

* sniffs*....am with you with the guilt trip but....

I am sure she can hear you now though and is proud of you for saying what you have, in public.

I'm thinking I wouldn't change major things, Susan. I guess there are always little things that we all would change. I always said I would be a better mother than my mum was but now I realise that my mum did the very best she could and that her upbringing shaped the type of mother she was and is. I know that she loves us all even though she is sometimes difficult.

My life hasn't always been smooth but me, my OH and children have become a closer family through the troubles we have been through and I think you have to go through bad times to appreciate the good times.

An answer from the heart....

As a youngster, I was chatting to a few friends. They were bemoaning their grandmothers and how dreadful they were.

I was really, really close to mine, but the herd mentality kicked in and I had to contribute - " I hate my nanna too etc"

And then, right behind me, there she was. She must have heard me, but she never let on. I can only imagine how hurt she must have been.

To this day, I burn with shame as I write this.

lol Susan, other than the obvious ...

if I could go back and do something different it would be to have the confidence to sing in front of people and to take lessons ..not because I could have done it well but to improve my breathing, for my own satisfaction when I try to sing along to youtube lol
