Checked with surgery, difference of opinions amongst reception staff, they checked with nurse - the pneumonia jab is for life. Good job it is - mine apparently was 1997!

florence61, old pal, I think I've seen you bring up this pneumonia-after-flu-vaccine thing before.

Your physician has said it's not possible for the flu vaccine to cause pneumonia. You don't seem to have any scientific basis for not believing that.

Unless you do, wouldn't it be wise not to say things that might scare off people who are at risk of serious problems if they get flu from getting the vaccine?

Coincidences happen. Sometimes, my neighbour's dog barks and then it rains. Doesn't mean my neighbour's dog is a rainmaker!

hi janey, yes probably about the same time last year. of course you are right i dont have any proof and to anyone who read my thoughts it is only my opinion that it caused my pneumonia and not any doctors. i wouldnt want anyone to take my advice and not have the jab and then get seriously ill .

so sorry if anyone has been misled by my remarks, that was not my intention so apolgies all round.

Seriously, though, f61. Two weeks between anything and someone getting sick makes it pretty clear there's no connection at all. No virus (no ordinary virus like these) takes two weeks to show up as an illness!

I'd hate to think *you* didn't get the vaccine because you thought this, because you could be at risk of getting pneumonia as a result of flu yourself.

hi chris went to gp a few days ago and asked about the pneumonia jab. she said there is strict criteria about who is eligible. mainly over 65 or those that suffer with copd or chronic chest problems, bronchitus etc. although i am astmatic, it is fairly under control and i dont have any other problems.

however, i am waiting to get my sinus operation before end of oct, so she said to come back after i have recovered from that if i want to discuss it, but really didnt think i was eligible. its really decided on ones individual health assessment.

You're welcome. I got mine at 59/60 and although asthmatic - at that time it was well under control, but we hve to listen and trust our doctors. Good luck with op.

i think the flu jab is great
i have it every year and take a vitamin c tablet twice a day

and hardly ever have a sniffle now let alone flu

My flu jab is booked for next Thursday. Friday I have me corns done.

had mine .. good gal me :o) but apparently i have to have the swine flu jab ? but i thought if you have had swine flu (which i have had and don't recommend ) didnt think it was needed ?

I phoned my surgery this morning
and asked about the flu jab .was told it would start on 10 Oct
i also asked if the swine flu jab was combind with the normal flu jab and was told yes it is.. so this year i wont be having it ..had the swine jab last year .. my arm was so swollen and i couldnt touch it for about a week
