Is there a particular reason for wanting it on a disc? You may do better to download your gedcom file to your 'puter and then onto a memory stick for safer keeping and easier updating.
Then download a free family tree programme such that which is available from "My Heritage".
Then you can upload and open your gedcom with the family tree programme.
The gedcom file you get from GR will not contain any photos you may have added to your tree.

true you loose all you info, all you get is your tree, not much point putting onto disc, you'll need a Gedcom reader to open it.
