Trying to find information on George Sullin, shown as father, occupation timberman, on the birth certificate of a friend who was born in 1944. I have been totally unable to locate George Sullin in any other record (including Ireland & Scotland), it's like he never existed. The only thing I have found is a death registration for a George Henry Sullin, March quarter 1970, it also shows he had been born on 17/12/1902 (can't locate any birth record though!). I've tried to order a copy of this death certificate on-line quoting Henley, 6b 3056 but have been told by GRO that they're refunding my money as there is no trace of the above mentioned person at the reference quoted! I've double checked and the reference is correct!
Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do next please????

You could always ring Henley register office and explain what GRO have told you and ask if they would be willing to take a look at their records. I think they would only need name and Henley Mar q 1970

I can see where Cassidy is coming from with the name Sullivan as there is a birth in Mar q 1903 for a George Henry Sullivan in Poplar which could tie in with a late December birth.

Is the surname on the marriage certificate clear. I would still be tempted to ring Henley for advice and hopefully someone will take a look for you.

Thanks Chrissie & Cassidy, I will phone Henley and let you know what they say!

I have no marriage certificate but definitely Sullin on my friends birth cert., however, the Sullivan registered in the Poplar area could well be the right place! Is it proable to be Sullivan on birth reg. and Sullin on death reg. though?
