It's only a bargain if you paid very little for it - and wanted it!! LOL

I once bought a painting at a jumble sale, for £2.50, intending to use the frame.
Decided I didn't like the frame, but noticed, through the dirt, a name on the painting.
It's by Leforrestier - and is worth at least £250 - possibly more if cleaned - Bargain!! LOL

I tend to think that something that is sold as a collector's piece with the statement that it will grow in value ... isn't and won't. ;)

They're nice things for people who like them and want them, but they're not actual investments, almost always.

Art of glass!

Master Glass Blower John Ditchfield told us about creating glass sculptures at his workshop in Singleton...

John started the art of glass blowing in 1968 and his creations have become popular, even appearing in Miller's Collectables, an antique guide for the future. We asked John about his work...
Glass bonbon dish
How did you get started?

"I started off by accident really when I was 16 years old but began my apprenticeship at the Venetian Glass Factory, Blackpool in the 1960's, with the Italian maestro Franco Toffolo, an Italian glass maker who had travelled over from Murano to set up a glass company. I needed the money, so I applied, but then I was hooked!"
What was the first thing you made?

"The first thing I made was a clown's head."

etc etc

Not sure if it's the same place though.
