I could not believe what I have just seen. I was on the ciggie
counter, after buying the winning ticket for the Euro Millions in M****sons, when behind me I saw some people. There was two 'head office' types, the store manager, and his understudy with a clip board. They were all officiating the straightening up of a barrier, the type that are a pole on a base,on the floor, with a red ribbon type that pulls out and hooks onto the next pole. I could not believe it. Four people to do that. No wonder the prices keep going up. Mentioned it to the ciggy girl, and she reddened, but naturally could not answer. What a waste, what a waste

Perhaps the barrier is being put up for a V.I.P. ? .....lol

Last year I watched no less than five large work men plant one thin sapling on the verge opposite my house .....it took them the best part of an hour ! ............only took one rotten youngster to snap it in two a few months later : ((

of course you have heard the one about two navvies digging a hole and waiting a few moments then filling it in, moving on a few yards and repeating the process?

well it transpires that there SHOULD have been three of them........

one digs the 'ole.......
one plants a tree,
and the third guy fills it in.........

when asked what was going on
it turns out that the middle guy was off sick that day.........

Perhaps you should have asked the store manager ? you may have got an answer , rather than Embarrassing the poor girl at the Kiosk ?

Fairy, I doubt the store manager was going to give me an answer with his superiors stood there. As for embarrasing the ' poor girl' at the kiosk, who I know very well, it was said in jest by myself, and which she answered in jest.
So you castigation of me, is needless

But you didnt say you knew her or said anything in jest to her ? you said she reddened lol. The store manager would have gave you an answer coz thats his job , to answer the customers ... You dont have to get shirty i was just saying .

Fairy, I am being far from shirty as you so eloquently put it. The thread was about how many people it took to line up a portable barrier. It wasn't put up to have every phrase or coupling of words, taken apart.
Please remember the old saying "Don't try and teach you grandmother to suck eggs".
