Grommets in adults.

Thanks for sharing that.

I have had major surgery twice on one ear, ...many moons ago, but now that it has been suggested that I have an op. on my 'good' ear, I am a little apprehensive.
I know that any surgery presents slight risks, but I am hoping the benefits will out weigh these.

It may not be necessary if the latest lot of medication clears the problem........

I can't give first hand experience, but my friend had grommets put in her ears in her late 30s, along with tonsil and adenoid removal, and yes it did help a lot. They were worried it might be mastoid infection, which requires more major surgery, but the grommets did the trick.

All they do is allow the air to flow through the ears, thus clearing the tubes of any mucus that may have built up from colds etc.

They are really tiny, no bigger than a small bead, the sort you get on red indian dolls (going back a while lol)

Has anyone experience of this procedure in adults?
Did it help with hearing?

I know it's fairly common for children, but would value anyone's adult first hand information please.
