The water in my bathroom basin was very slow in draining away. Gave the plunger a pathetic go and decided to buy some de-bungin stuff.
Poured it down the plughole, left it overnight, poured boiling water down it this morning - water went away.
Went to clean my teeth - and the water stayed - the plughole was totally bunged - so I used the plunger and cleared it!! What a waste of £4!

Then.... I have been attempting to tidy up my much neglected garden. I knew I hadn't been using the compost bin properly, so I was going to tip it out & start again.
Except, legally, I can't!
On lifting the lid of the compost bin - what do I see on top - a slow worm - a protected species.
Although if I tip the slow worm out (and no doubt all her friends), I will not be killing, injuring or selling it, (terms of it's protection) but it will be an unhappy slow worm and at the mercy of my cats!

The slow worms used to live under my shed - i suppose the comost bin is a bit more comfortable!

You could declare it as a nature conservation site and apply for a grant !

Good idea, Lindsey - and declare the weeds part of a 'meadow' .
I've got a wonderful display of bindweed and herb robert in the back garden, a 'lawn' that seems to consist of teasles and dandelion and fantastic ivy growth in the front garden (thanks to my neighbour!!)

Oh, and every other plant I've put in over the years has seeded and reverted back to it's original 'weed' state!

Soda Crystals will clear your sink and cost less than a £ in Home and Bargain.

See if you can get at the U bend on your basin and take it off......with a carefully positioned bowl/bucket underneath, then take it to a DIFFERENT sink to wash out.

Soda crystals and hot water will clear it in seconds, believe me, worked for me on my sink and more recently on the toilet.

I regularly have to debung the plug holes in the bathroom and en suite shower.OH is very hairy and blocks the shower drain on a regular basis and daughter with long blond hair and a lot of greasy face make up blocks the sink and bath.I do find the products I buy to unblock work.I put a whole bottle down and then a little bit more every week just to keep things flowing lol

I put bicarbonate of soda all around the hole, and water it down with vinegar. Clears our shower drain very well, and no effort. From the Vinegar book.
