I like a lot of what DET suggests.
Though I'm not so sure about the road fund issue as it makes it harder to drive without insurance with all the checks that are made when you apply for it so for that reason i'd like it to stay x

I'd like them to sell off their wine cellar and drink water or something cheaper at public functions. £864,000 is quite a lot of money for wine which can be better spent on something else.

More than £17,500 has been spent topping up the government wine cellar since the election, it has emerged.

It brings the total value of fine wine stored for VIP functions to £864,000, a Commons answer by Foreign Office minister Henry Bellingham revealed.

I wouldn't go as far as abolishing Family Allowance, but would limit it to the first 2 children born to a mother, starting from 42 weeks from Budget day. At least one parent to be an EU citizen and the children regularly domiciled in Britain.
If it were linked to parental income, that would mean it would be means tested, and yet another layer and cost of beaurocracy (sp), so I'm not keen on that. It is supposed to be a cost cutting/revenue raising Budget, and there are going to be some unpopular decisions.

Abolish Vehicle tax and add 0.1p to the price of fuel *after* VAT.

NHS patients with repeat prescriptions to be seen by a staff member of the GP's medical practise every 3 months to try to limit the number of non domiciled patients claiming subsidised medicines.

Insist that visitors not usually resident in Britain pay for medical treatment for pre existing conditions, or that their Government pays. Medical Emergencies to be exempt.
