Good luck with the bagels, you can get them in Tesco or Sainsburys, etc
I like the New York bakery ones, not the own brand ones. I warm them on high in the microwave for 20 secs and then dunk into milky coffee, no butter or anything on them - they have 215 calories per bagel so I usually only have one or one and a half to start my day.

Do ask about the vit d next time you go to the docs, it might really make a difference.

take care

Dawnie, you are right, can't believe it was that long ago!

Julie, get the doc to do a blood test as they might need to give you a jab and then the tablets for maintenance, it's better to know you are taking the correct amount rather than do hit and miss from the health food shop.
My hair is growing back so much, but it looks scruffy as there are all these ends of the shorter three inch hairs sticking out from my smoothish bob style which is chin length.

Re my tum, I also stopped eating so much bread and now most days I have a cinnamon and raisin bagel dunked in a cup of milky coffee to start my day. I don't seem to weigh any less but the distribution seems to have altered lol

take care

i think ill buy some from the health food shop,

went to docs today,
he said my head aches,
that have suffered for years or more,
been treated by neurlogist,
were down to sinusis,!!!!!!!!!!!!
well i had to stop my self saying, you are kidding,
i let him carry on
he said ill giv eyou antibiotic, just in case
anything that stops or helps at all,

i told him yeh last time you gave me diazepam,
that helped at night relax the muscles
so he gave me that,
i couldnt see my usuall doctor,
had to see the other that is usually good
he said it maybe just flare up of you FM and stress or both,

i bought myself a walking stick today too,
to help out a bit,
and a grabber to reach stuff in work,

Julie, if you have leaflets I would show one to your doc and ask for a test, I certainly don't get so much pain as before and another thing, apparently it helps with big tums, I am not so pregnant looking most of the time now altho still fat, my tum isn't so prominent. Just as well when I go to the wedding in August as the bride will be 28 weeks and the bridesmaid 35 weeks, don't want them thinking I am the only pregnant pensioner there lol

What a nasty woman to have a go about the dog and then let her's leap over the wall.

Dawnie, wish your other half a very Happy 50th Birthday - I am sure it was nice to spend time together as you did. I thought you went away to Jersey or somewhere for a break on your own not so long ago?

take care both of you
love

thas given me a laugh at your dog dawnie,
i felt so cross with our dog, as she had gone nuts in the house few minutes before, with our 1 year old other dog,
tho the little one teases her,
i thought maybe she needed to walk off her energy,
its so embarrasing,

but the women was rude and i know probably scared,
i stupidly got upset came home sniveling,
once she got sent to her bed by hubby she calmed down,
thanks for making me feel not alone,

hoope your recovered soon from your trip,
i must admit i felt awful walking thru shops with hubby other day , he took meout for fresh air, and i was like a wreck,
needed a stick,
he normally walks like hes pace in army !!!!

theyve issued leaflets on lack of vit D lately liz i notice,

in work other day was reading one,
i think you gotta mention it to your gp tho avent you, cos thy dont voluntarily suggest it, or seem not too

just attempted to take one of the dogs out for walk, just a stroll, short one,
got to end of road, our dog aint that sociable,
but kept her on lead,
she slipped her collar and went bonkers on another dog she saw,
but all she does is get in their face, barking,
the women accuse dme of deliberately letting her of her lead,
i got so cross i ended up upset by it,
i know after 2 years what daisys like and purposely keep lead on her,
bloody women was accusing me to others around her, shouting I SAW HER TAKE HER LEAD OFF HER, DELIBERATELY
that upset me too cos i hadnt, and to accuse someone,
i took daisy home, and went back to double check her dog was ok,
it was fine and jumped her garden wall to come to me,
so she didnt even have control,
cheeky mare,
daisy never bites i know theres always chance,
but she just gets in dogs face barking, growling, little devil,
shes grounded,

Hi girls,
Julie, I meant there is no blood test to confirm fm.

Dawnie, sorry you are having a bad time but glad you can get away sometimes with your lovely man who is so supportive.

I am waiting to have another vit d jab and am back on the tablets vit d and calcium, and I read this recently, in fact passed it on to someone else with fm.

Vitamin D for Pain Relief
Friday June 20, 2008
According to researchers, taking additional vitamin D every day may help to reduce or eliminate chronic pain due to arthritis, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, headaches and other types of pain.
The researchers determined that more than half of the people in the United States, and the rest of the world, are deficient in vitamin D. They also believe the currently recommended daily adequate intake of vitamin D – up to 600 IU per day – is outdated and too low. According to the study, most children and adults need at least 1000 IU per day, and persons with chronic musculoskeletal pain would benefit from 2000 IU or more per day of supplemental vitamin D3 (also called cholecalciferol).

Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that acts like a hormone in your body to help you absorb calcium. Your body makes vitamin D when your skin is exposed to sunlight, although you can also get a little vitamin D from fish and fortified foods like milk and breakfast cereal. Vitamin D supplements are generally safe to take, just be sure you follow the dosage instructions on the label unless you speak with your healthcare provider first.

Might be worth you getting your d levels checked out I am to have a jab every 6 months and take the tablets as daily maintenance. It's all new ground apparently so lots of docs don't know about vit d and how it can help.

Purple, get your eyes checked for cataracts. Those symptoms were what made me get my eyes checked, and I finished up having my cataracts removed. Lovely result!

Hi Julie,

Lately my eyes have been like that, as if my specs are misted or mucky. Thought it was just my age really and the fact I read and watch tv a lot as well as come online.

I was told there was no test they could do for fm

Touch wood, I don't get too many headaches but am sure I get more since I had that fall on the ice before Christmas.

I get tension headaches up the back of my neck to my head, but recognise those as defo tension, and stiffness follows

Hope you can find something that eases the pain

my doc is very good ,
hes the only one who listens in the practice, therefore hes really popular,
after i had the bloodpressure tabs they helped tons for a while,

but i find when i do get stressed or even just can come on while im asleep and then feel it waking me up,
its usually all down right side of face and head,
i must admit a lot of the time my eyes are like a fog,
i know i got glasses, but they rarely make a difference
its just like a mist over um

thanks for the advice will pursue it
i got strong painkillers,
thats the trouble with prednisilone steroids can affect your weight,
its a pain,

Deanna Report 15 Jun 2010 17:56

Julie, Steroids is what they gave me.
My optician took a photos of the back of my eye.... you should have seen.
When my doctor saw it.. he looked frightened and immediately picked the phone up and call the hospital... he put me on 40 milligrams Prednisilone Spelling... too lazy to go get the box) which blew me up like a balloon and took YEARS to affect my headaches.
I am still on 7mgs... and I am still very fat.... but I am alive.
What the hospital here does is take a tiny piece of skin from your temple and RUSH IT up to the path lab.
I did not have that done as my doctor had panicked when he saw the picture.
I don't know what your doctor is like but if you are suffering as badly as I did then, he/she needs to do something.
Good luck luv, and ask for a stronger pain killer too.

its just all you can do is lay down sometimes isnt it

thnaks for understanding

Deanna Report 15 Jun 2010 17:22

Hi Julie,
are you sure your headaches are part of the 'FibroM'?

I have TEMPORAL ATERITIS, and I know what a headache is... believe me.
Could you have been misdiagnosed in this area, because of the painful condition you already have?
It to many years to diagnose me, and it was an Optician who saw it in the end.
You have all my sympathy and understanding, I have suffered Migraine all my life and even I was blaming that!
You rest, it is all you can do, and does that make any difference?
NO! I thought not.
